    Hello would anyone know how many ohms on a standard Ru-10 Ballast resistor

    1.8 ohms at room temp, according to their application guide.

    My question, is there any difference from a standard resistor other than the ability to absorb heat through 'ballast'? Why does a resistor wire not need ballast?

    The resistor wire is the ballast, they get pretty toasty the entire length. I expect the insulation ("pink wire") had special characteristics e.g. asbestos. Maybe.
