image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg wanted a vintage look battery for my 40 sedan but didn't want to go the extra bucks .so I bought my needed new battery at the local parts store . Checked out the vintage look ones on the internet and although the one with the ford logo on the side would have been the correct look for my 40 I liked the later Autolite sta-ful so here is my rendishion of that battery . 1st I peeled off original stickers from battery and placed them on the side that will be hidden by fender well . Cleaned areas several times with alcohol.needed something to duplicate the six screw on style caps . Came up with the negative side black caps from new batteries .there are several diff style caps try to find the ones that are solid not the ones that split when removed from new battery. My new battery happened to have 6 indentations were filler holes would have been ( not needed just a reference point for me to help center the black caps used for the imatation screw cap bases ) .Used blue painters tape to help keep them straight . Installed the six black caps with black silicone .let them dry .I needed 6 red caps for my imitation screw on caps . For the red plastic that I wanted I came up with 6 coke caps . Scuffed the tops to get rid of the coke symbol then glued them on my bases with the sylicone . Got a local sign-sticker guy to duplicate the Autolite wording off the internet .so haven't installed yet but not expecting any problems with my glue job . So here it is .yep I did it myyyyy way ! A couple pics of the batteries of the Internet

  2. Awesome! And very timely as I was just thinking about this for my roadster the other day! I found vintage pics of it with an old Monkey Wards "Riverside" sticker that I want to replicate.

now need one for your cell phone - Ha! have seen ads for battery toppers to make top of battery look like early ones before - just looked on eBay and they are pretty expensive compared to your low buck plan.

That will cause guys to start digging in the recycle bin for bottle caps. Great idea that only costs the price of the adhesive.

Plus you got to drink a 6 pack of Coke to get the materials needed. I hope there was some rum involved.

This is one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" instances.
