One of my favorite "modern" cars is the 57 Ford 300 two door sedan (in all trim levels), the Dawsonville Moonshine Festival Show always seems to have more than other shows. Here are some of the best. Also a bonus 58.
I had a '57 Custom 4 dr a dozen years ago, sold it because it wasn't a 2 dr (stupid me). I always liked the short quarter panel trim of the Custom over the full-length trim of the Custom 300, but both are great looking cars.
I'm really not a Ford guy, but I see at least one FIFTY EIGHT in there, and it's a nice car too. That model 57 Ford is one of my favorite cars of all time, and I personally like them better than the 57 Chevrolet's (please forgive me Louis, God of all things Chevrolet). I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
They are great looking cars! We never see any up here, they all rotted away from the road salt. Shame.
..........Jeff,...................Pick me up as you head South. We'll split the gas and room...............................................................Don.
Yep I knew that was a 58, but it looked bad *** enough to be included! Same body, different front and rear treatment, hood and deck lid. Regarding the trip to Dawsonville, the spectacular winding roads through the hills and mountains of north Georgia are reason enough to make the trip. Especially Hwy 52 from Chatsworth to Ellijay!
The Fairlane's have a 2 inch longer wheelbase for one thing. All of them. And I could be wrong on this but it looks to me like the quarter panels are longer from the center of the rear axle to the rear bumper.
Very nice cars all around presented here; I knew there where some wheelbase differences, just not which cars it involved; like I said, I'm not a Ford guy. Now I do! Knew a guy in high school (66-69) that was doing a Gunfighter copy using a 57 Model 300. He got to the point of having an axle slung under the front, and cut the firewall to move the engine back, was planning to move the rear wheelwells forward, and then lost interest. He then started building a 46 Ford Coupe "G***er"; he finished that car I know, because I balanced the tires on it for him on his way to the drags one day. They would't let him race it until he removed the spray on red window tint with steel wool. Last I heard of the guy, he was on the *** offender registry, and that was at least 20 years ago. Post up some more 57 ford pics guys. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
......................and just to add to the confusion, I think this was still being called a Crestline. '57 Ford gurus feel free to correct.
That would be a Club Victoria and the 4 door version is a Club sedan. There wasn't a Crestline in 1957. The black 57 Custom looks to have dual quad air cleaner which would make it a pretty rare and desirable "E" code 312.
The coral car is a Fairlane. The red and white one is a Fairlane 500. The trim line, from bottom to top, was Custom (quarter panel trim only), Custom 300 (full length side trim), Fairlane (like the coral one above) and Fairlane 500 (the red and white one above). Custom and Custom 300 had shorter wheelbase than Fairlane.
There are currently a couple of nice 300's on that auction site we all know and love; I like the black one that's listed. It has a 302/C4 while the other has a BBF/C6. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
The 57 300's also made pretty good drag cars, here is a vintage shot of the late Jim Barillaro, out of Meriden Conn . There was also apparently an intermediate level of trim on the 300's, it had the full side spear without the gold inlay.,
