22687739_10215241791780732_7633664163112172929_n.jpg I've come to the conclusion that I'm not up to distressing the beautiful black paint on my '34, and want to keep it "nice". To that end, I'm gonna buy a new grill to replace the OK but not perfect one that came with it, and I have to decide what to do with the windshield frame and posts. I have a pair of new bronze posts that I polished, and an original, chopped, w/s frame, that I brazed some pinholes up on, filed and sanded so it's OK. It's straight, I have all the original chrome off it. I think it's plate-able, but I'm not opposed to the idea of painting the posts and frame gloss black to match the body. I thought "blueing" the frame and the grill shell, which is a nice natural finish, that I like the idea of, but the bronze posts won't look right un-plated against the blued steel. Or chrome. Does anybody have a photo of a '33 or '34 with painted w/s posts and frame, so I can see if it's something I like, or should I bite the bullet and send 'em out to be chromed?

If you can get a picture of your car with the posts put on the car, search for a thread en***led "The Photoshop thread to end all Photoshop threads". Post your pic there and request someone Photoshop it for you with a description as to what you want to see.

    Chrome.
I was going to paint my RPU posts and windshield frame then decided that chrome would look better with my dark Washington blue.

Bill, I always liked your roadster. Do you know where it is now. I was in LA for a spell as I saw it at Pomona. The top is perfect.

Your 34 is looking really good. You were trying to do budget control with the old grille and now planning for the upgrade to a new grille to bring it to a level that matches the paint. The budget is taking a hit with the grille & the chrome windshield will take the car to the same level of finish. If budget gets in the way of driving then paint & chrome later when the budget recovers. Enjoying your build thread.

Yeah, I'm trying to not to too far overboard here. I would MUCH prefer chrome, but it may not be in the budget. If I'd left it Blitz Black, I'd have problem now at all. I do have a big check from our insurance company for my wife's Ford Fusion, which was totaled last Thursday by some stupid girl who didn't stop for the school bus my wife stopped for. Idiot. I MAY be able to talk her out of a bit of that for chrome.

That's what's gonna happen. I'm putting it together with what I have, and advertising the p***able (from 30 feet) grill I have. I'll paint the w/s posts. If I sell the grill, I'll chip in some more and buy a new one, and keep saving for the rest. Anybody who complains can contribute to the chrome fund. ;-)

You built? I thought I seen it in one of those big name magazines and read that the guy who bought it from you built it himself. It had to be true cause he said so. Seriously that car had the right stance and look and the painted windshield looked good on it
