I see what Frank did, men, that there is real hot rodding, no shop, no concrete, no 220 just the makings of a hot rod and pure determination we could all take a lesson from Frank me, I fabbed up some patch panels and welded them to the little hot rod, only needed to replace the bottom couple inches, but in order to reach the back side of the welds I went ahead and put the seams where I could get to them, one side almost done, I'll finish it up this week and hope to get on the other side next weekend
No pics, but I got all my front brake lines bent and mounted on the AV8.....not as much as I had hoped. This was the first time double flaring lines and bending them. They turned out MUCH better than I had expected and I finally got the hang of double flares... Yes, that dude has it! .....hats off, fellas.....
Finished up the classwork for my online statistics class about 2:00 pm today, going into the final exam next Saturday, I have a 86.7% average... Did I mention I'm an 41 y/o artist who hated/hates math? Met up With Stevie G's friend, Rick, to hand off the 302/AOD I've had in the barn for him, nice guy, was amazed that Steve had friends he met on the HAMB. fixed the A/C in my D.D.P.U.*, Picked up a die cast 1/18 scale model of the 1/25 scale model of "Old Pro" Nova, for $16. * Daily driver pick up

got rid of this mess of brittle worn out spliced to hell factory?? wiring and started to get this new harness put in the 51
I got a bracket made up for the electric fan on the flattie rad, rebuilt two 94 carbs, bolted down my intake, made up some lower rad pipes that mate the flathead outlets to the rad, mounted the fan, alternator, carbs, fuel pump,etc... Pre-oiled the engine and turned it over by hand, painted the exhaust manifolds and bolted them on, and dug out the starter but have yet to install that. Flatman
....removed all the original rear spring bracketry and park brake junk from my 40 chevy coupe....removed all the attaching rivets etc etc, redrilled the holes to 3/8ths and bolted up my new Chassis Engineering bracketry...hung the new springs. Nice stuff! Man, this is a lot faster than making my own spring/shackle brackets from plate. And it all fits great.. Polished my front Americans and made a deal to get some 8.5 rear Americans.....tested my new slicks for fit under the rear wheelwells..they fit.
Well now, I can tell I'm getting old. I remember when I was in Franks position, don't think I could do it that way again. I did manage to finally get my 39 Plymouth to fire up today. It's been a couple of months since it last ran. This thing has an 87 V6 with the wiring harness from the motors doner car in it. I had it running acouple months ago, then proceeded to do a lot of "improvements" to the car, one of which involved repositioning the motor. When I repositioned the motor, I had to modify the wiring harness so some things would reach. After that it ran for about a minute and died. I'd thought it ran out of gas, but it ran out of spark. I've redone the under hood wiring and the under dash wiring and replaced the smoked computer. The 5 minutes or so it ran today was HUGE. I was able to shut if off and restart it a couple times. I'm thrilled. Now I find I have to rebuild the carb, I have a trans cooler line leaking, and I still need to do exhaust and tail lights, and a host of other little things before I can be cruising. BUT AT LEAST IT RUNS NOW. Might not sound like much, but in my world it is. Gene
I went for a ride in an original '67 Shelby AC Cobra, with it's original 427 side-oiler singing through unbaffled side pipes. Around Road Atlanta. Hitting 135mph on the back straight, without the owner really, really getting into it. -Brad
I went to go visit Bass at his shop downtown, and was politely turned away. Man, I didn't know he lives in his shop! It was about 10:00 in the morn and I was banging on his door just thinking it was just his shop. Poor guy had just got out of the shower... Anyways, I finished up the front end on a 37 dodge bros for paint and took it easy from there.
I got my gaskets from Automotive Stud and was finally able to bolt on my driver's side head after changing out and lapping in a new intake valve on #5 on my flatmotor...bent valve on a fresh motor......somebody screwed up somewhere in the build......maybe me???.....Nahhhhhhh!...started her up and Vroooom!!!! My Isky #88 cam sounds really good and the motor feels strong but just as I was going to take her out on the *neighborhood test track* the sky opened wide and it poured rain the rest of the day and on into today.......so, no road test yet.......tomorrow.... That was my Saturday anyway....... Brucie
Built some engine mounts to put the /6 in the panel, bolted the engine in, then stabbed the tranny. Drank a few bottles of Powerade to replentish the fluids. Welding in 90 degree temps isn't my favorite thing to do. With a little luck, I might be ready to fire the engine next weekend. It won't have brakes yet, so no test drives for a while.
Got my air plumbed into my little shop. Then late saturday afternoon the weather got nice enough to hang a couple Harley fenders off my pear tree and paint 'em. I reasembled the bike today and took this picture, still needs a couple of things done.
i had to fix a bunch of bad wiring under the dash of my 51 shoebox that some moron had done. they didnt even wire the brake lights.. i had no gas gauge...so i got all that workin and now i figure at the end of summer ill take out all the shitty wires and rewire the whole car...
Put some new welds on the '60 Chevy wagon skidplate, after the payment eventially ground the old welds off. Also replaced fluid and re-bled the front brakes, as it was pulling strangely. Didnt see a prob, but fixed it. On Saturday went out to the Bombshells show in SF. Had a good time. -scott noteboom
Nimrod, that is a great-looking motorcycle. For me, the weekends are a lot like weekdays, with the main difference being that I'm not on the phone as much. This weekend I worked on polishing a '32 axle for a customer, picked up two blocks from being hot-tanked, started deburring a 327 block, cleaned the shop, took a bunch of pictures, uploaded some of them to my site, worked on the dash for my coupe, and walked the dog about eight miles. I took care of my lovely bride from a surgery thrusday.I stay home almost the entire weekend for the first time in a long time. I really enjoyed it.
Drove to a cruise about 40 miles from where I live. Tweaked the suspension, walked around the Hot rod adjusting & tightening anything loose, filled up the tank, ( Holy Christ!) logged about 100 miles averaging about 65 MPH on the Interstate. Was real happy with the entire trip! Met lotsa' new folks!
Friday I packed up the bike and drove to Sacramento...we said our tearful goodbye's and then it was off to beautiful Dunnigan California to meet the guy with my 51 Fleetline. Drove the 51 back to Petaluma and tried to get a wee-bit o' shut eye. Saturday I drove the 51 to SF for the Bomshells show. Got there around 1pm...thanks to Guido for saving me a spot. My wifes band played, and even though my wife was fighting a Lung Infection, and busted cartillage in her ribs, she sounded great. Though I was exhausted, it was a great time. The car drove like a champ and now it's off to get the front end and tranny in tune for the drive to Paso.
Well i finally picked up my 8' of 3/16 thick steel plate fri so i decided to build my bench this weekend to mount my vise too. I probly over built it but i wont have to worry about it walking off. It's 8' x 30" deep with a 3" bend on the back. I set it up 36" tall which seems to be just right now. All the legs i made out of 2x2 square tubing.
Gee, where should I start. Wednesday...put on the re-done heads on the flatty....dressed it up and checked the motor again for leaks and other misc. stuff. Thrashed on Thursday to get the front suspension squared away on the A-truck to take it to the HAMB BBQ on Saturday. Took it on a drive w/ Derek Mitchell to Bob's Big Boy, and found the lower pulley to my motor scraping the axle, BAD!!!. so I panic'd. Actally we ate first, then drove back (scraping) and panic'd. Friday night- went to a wedding...9:20 pm I get home and worked on the front suspension and made a home-made 1" block for the front and got it mocked up ready to be assembed. Found I needed new longer bolts, everything was closed... Tried to set the front alignment, made a super High velocity stack; I think it was 1 am when I turned in to bed. Saturday Morning...ran to the hardware store, got the Grade 8 bolts I needed, threw them on, showered, and left for the HAMB BBQ. Got in the truck and broke my extension off the shifter. PUlled it back in the garage and TIG'd it back on. Forgot to take off the ground cable and dragged it as I was pulling out...knocking it over and almost blowing up the garage from the Acetelene falling as well. Left pissed, drove as fast as I could...55-60 mph to the HAMB BBQ...having a great time and drinking a few brewski's...got to put faces to the names and meet a bunch of Kool Kats. Lots of fun. Ran over to a second local show with Googaz and others...come to find that it sucked. So we left. On the way home, it started to rain...My A-truck has no roof...no side glass, plexi windshield and a few holes in the floor...It was fricken cold and miserable at times. Got home and crashed early. Sunday...got up 4:30 am, went to Pomona swap meet...scored a bunch of cool stuff for the long-roof. Came home 8:30 am and decided to pull the gas tank out of the A-truck and re-do the dash arrangement.....got the tank out with the help of my bro-in-law (thanks) spent the next few hours cutting out baffles and parts. Then later striping the whole thing to bare metal. By this time (now)...my feet hurt and im tired...and damn, monday is around the corner. Whew!
