This is a timely post. Who builds the best aftermarket progressive linkage? I have seen a bunch of different styles.

I actually had two tri power cars when in high school built a 50 Ford with an Oldsmobile engine with a J-2 tri-power. Not too long after I graduated I bought 61 Pontiac Bonnevile convertible 389 with a factory tri power. What a car that was

I sure would like to have another. Mine was from a '66 GTO, with mech. linkage and the three large carbs. Probably due to my air valve tuning techniques, it was more responsive than the Quadrajets it replaced. It was the longest lasting piece of more than one engine. Did I mention that I sure would like to have another?

Photo of my 500 Cadillac with 3-2gc small base Rochesters, ran good until I blew it up. Went with more compression, more cam, roller rockers for more rpm with the new engine, tri-power was not able to keep up. I bought a new 68 Corvette with a tri-power 435 hp 427, when you kicked it down you could almost see the hood being sucked down. Love the sound and the looks of a tri-power.

Next question what Chevrolet ran 4 carbs from the factory? 1958 was a big year for 3 X 2 Even Mercury had it.

My '57 Pontiac Tri-power has been trouble free for the last 33 years, which is how long I have had it!
Rebuilt the carbs and set up the progressive linkage back then, and been opening up the 3 carbs every time I have it out!
The fact that it is a stick car makes it that much more fun! recent 021.JPG This, in that....... 002.JPG
Tri-power is triple the fun! KK

  17. I love tri-power!
    My 1st car in 1972 was a 66 GTO.
Added it to a 348 Impala I sold a few months ago.

  18. I work for a car collector that has some factory multi-carb display engines. Here's the one he's most proud of. 1958 Mercury 430 Super Marauder. Maybe the 1st production engine to make 400 horsepower.

So many people got rid of the factory air cleaners and replaced them with cleaners that flowed less air than the carbs.

The Mercury (post 48) and the Lincoln are two of scarcest of the factory tripowers.
