I am in need of a dash cluster & clock for my 52 creastliner. I’m getting ready to search and buy one, I have a question before I look. Can these be converted to 12 volt and what does it take? Will a 53 dash parts Work as well? Are they different? Thanks, Kory
DASH GUAGES WONT RUN ON 12V - YOU CAN GET A VOLT REDUCER ONLINE - ALSO THE SENDING UNITS HAVE TO STAY 6V FORD DID NOT CHANGE TO 12V GUAGE UNTIL MID 60'S I BELIEVE GUAGES 52-53 WILL WORK AS LONG AS THEY ARE SAME SHAPE SHOULD BOLT IN/ TO SPEEDO HOUSEING(I'M COMPAREING WITH PICS NOT HANDS ON EXPERIENCE) https://www.ebay.com/itm/ELECTRONIC...v-to-6v-better-than-runtz-diode-/282713490436
I understand that 12 volts was 1956 only for the gauges and in 1957 they went back to 6 volts until the 60s.
Actually Ford used 6 volt gauges up into the early 80's and this is all that is needed to get an accurate reading after converting to 12 volts http://restorationpartssource.com/s...oYeiKKupw6yos6rRk9rP2qW80qFiVOyBoCvlcQAvD_BwE
This shows how to wire it up to your gauges, notice that in the diagram it is called a "constant voltage unit".
Wow! Thank you!!!! Now the hunt begins to find a nice cluster. If anyone has any good leads on one, PM me please. Thank you Jeff and the Group!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/52-53-Ford...d=302322312844&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 Other styles of gauges are available click on seller store, the old clocks usually don't work so some guys will mount a small tachometer there. If you go custom ask the seller if the senders are included or if they work with the OEM's.
I see they have the Dakota's also https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dakota-Dig...354140&hash=item51f0e5988a:g:AbUAAOSwlyJZb4lj
I’m looking for a stock cluster, I have a set of 3 round VDO gages that the owner before me was going to do. I don’t want them, or some billet cluster. I have been thinking about putting a linclon dash in it. I’m trying to get the car done and back on the road so stock is perfect for me.
For a stock set up this guy is in your neck of the woods and is parting out several: https://credibility.com/all-other-business-support-services/us-ne-harvard/rudy-enterprises-llc
Thanks Jeff! I called him this morning and he is seeing what he has. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this social group!
I bought an “12 to 6 volt electronic voltage regulator” on eBay. Kept all my original 6 volt gauges, radio, heater fan and wiring. For any 12 volt needs, except lights, I installed new wiring. All work great.
