I just made flathead engine to my customer in East-Finland. 1953 block, 4" crank, Ross, ****, Howard, cam, Isky, Manley pro flo valves, Fluidamper, Navarro heads, Navarro intake, 2 x 97 stromberg, Ronco magneto, Ripped alum. oilpan, Alum. waterpumps,... internal balanced, runners made bigger, 3 angle valve seat jobs,.... Note !!! I want to buy one 4 " merc crank + 59A or 8BA block. One of my friend in Helsinki needs also bigger Flathead engine. I wanna built that engine during winter. Send me PM or email, if You have those stuff. auliz@kotinet.com Aulis
Morning. I do not know who makes those. I have bought it from USA, but not from manufacturer. What is that IIRC? can You write contact info here or PM? There is nothing very special rare in this engine. Big bore, 4" stroke, big journals. My customer had "big parts" and I have just made dirty jobs (bore, hone, runners, valvejobs). Magneto was SBC Ronco. Recoiled and I made it to fit 8BA style engine. Still have to work with engine couple of days. Need to rebuilt fuel pump, make fuel lines, intake is not ready yet,.... Aulis
Sorry Auliz, I thought it was you. I do think it was someone overseas that did it. "IIRC is internet shorthand for : "If I Remember Correctly".
Cam is "mystery" -stick, Howard. This oilpan is not my own production. My fits to older engines. Today engine will be ready. 1-2 pics still coming out. ah
Ready for run. Fuel pump and shaft missing. I need to order those. I have several fuel pumps, but all older pre 1949 models. Buyer can make spark plug wirings, I was put magneto to right position, adjust points etc. Last pics are here. Aulis NB. I was hurt somebodys feeling, because I have talked here in HamB that "merc cranks are forged". He is right, Merc cranks are not forged. Those are CAST ALLOY STEEL (GGG). Aulis
"Auliz", Are you sure you have nothing to do with this ? https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...d-cast-aluminum-oilpan.1017716/#post-11504323
Yes, thats my own production oilpan, but it fits only pre 1949 engines. In this case, engine si 1949-53,... Aulis
