  5. Thanks! I'm in central NC but I go to UNC Wilmington. I'm on fall break but they evacuated campus the day after I left. I just got an email saying that all cl***es are cancelled on Monday, more time for the Hemi!

School time or Hemi time? Boy that would be a tough one.

  8. Here it is! This video does it zero justice. This thing is so loud that a clock fell off the wall when I cracked the throttle.

More school time means more income to buy more Hemis.

If you havent put mechanical freeze plugs in yet, please do, it will save you a bunch of trouble later. Been there done that with both a 354 and 392. will blow out p***enger side center plug fist time you really get on it.

  17. We did, I mentioned them in an earlier post. They're the stainless ones from HH with the locking bars on the back.

Is that the HH modified 340 harmonic balancer? Is it worth it?

  20. No it's this one http://hothemiheads.com/harmonic_balancers/harmonic_balancers_street.html
It's well made (specifically for the Hemi) and you can see the timing marks very easily, other than that I'm not sure what makes a balancer worth it to be honest. I feel like you would be OK with either one, we just ended up getting the next one up. I do know we had to get the longer crank bolt, which they sell as well.

Thats the one I was thinking of. BBC waterpump, short? Did the pulleys line up pretty good?

  23. Yea we used the BBC water pump but we used the HH timing cover as well. We did have to shim the water pump pulley just a tad (one or two washers) and they all line up now.

  24. Well we put some mufflers on it so our neighbors didn't start to hate us! Here's a video for your auditory pleasure:

PS: Yes I am aware now that I did put one of the mufflers on backwards, but they're reversible so it only looks funny.

Lazy idle on a Hemi love the sound, and a nice big bore exhaust.

  29. Thanks! Unfortunately though the videos don't capture the thump that this thing creates when it idles, feels almost like a second heartbeat, especially without the mufflers.

Great build thread. I have that crane roller cam for my 392, was wondering how that is going to work, apparently well. You didnt happen to have any advice on getting the distributor drive gear in the right direction so that the distributor points the right direction?
