I'm swapping my 14" steel wheels with lancer caps with 15's. For a new look for my shoebox I figured I'd paint the wheels black, add trim-rings and spider caps. My car's red, and I want to do something other than plain black wheels. Any recommendations on a recipe for black with a subtle metallic? It's got to be durable but I don't want to powdercoat in case I change my mind down the road. I've done some painting but I'm a novice at best. Single stage urethane mixed with silver flake? Black base coat with a clear that's mixed with flake? Products you'd recommend? Pictures? Like I said I'm looking for subtle, just something that catches the light and looks interesting. I'm open to other color suggestions too. Thanks for the help. /Mike
ive used silver crystal fx on a black bike i did.and was real happy with the results..its comparable to HOK ice pearl,,,a little goes a long way..
Go to www.oldschoolflake.com. I've used many of their products and they're awesome. Always come out looking great and they've got a new Black flake and Black pearl out now. Check those out. Also, they've got a "white ice pearl" that looks awesome in any color and won't take away from they black but it'll give you plenty of shine. I've used it in a metallic blue and it's freakin amazing. I'm not going to get into a ******* match about HOK over old school flake, but the OSF is priced right. I paid $11.99 for about 4 oz. of pearl. A little goes a long way, but I like a lot for plenty of effect.
