a friend of mine has asked me to trade a 394 olds w/ a slim jim for a 350/ 350. I love the 394 but it has cost me too much money to maintain (as far as the slim jim is concerned) and i am wondering if it would be very difficult to swap it out to 350.

DON'T DO IT!!! ****o was gonna do the same thing cause his 371 was goin bad in the Olds. i had to find him a good deal on a 394 to stick in there to get him to keep from putting a Chevy in it.

they do make an adapter to swap a Chevy trans inplace of the old Slim Jim. they are'nt cheap but i bet it's cheaper than a complete motor and trans swap by the time it is all said and done.
you've got motor mounts to contend with, exhaust, some wiring (though probably not much), ****** corss member, drive shaft and then you have to live with the fact that you pussed out and went with a boring old Chevy motor in place of your Olds. HO HUM.

I have looked everywhere for a adapter plate and I can't find one. If I do find one what is involved in the swap?

Bednt's Adapters (i THINK i spelled it right) sells them. they would be the ones to ask what is involved in the swap. i would have to guess it will be just a little less complicated than an entire motor and trans swap. plus you get to keep that cool Olds mill.

try a search here on the HAMB for "transmission adapters". the guy who owns the place is a HAMBer but i forget his handle and i'm not sure how active he is these days.
they make ALOT of trans adapters for alot of cool stuff but it is pricey.

if you do decide you want the 350 i dont think there that difficult.i know a guy that put a early 60's 327 in a 57.he said he used the stock chevy mounts.dont know how involed it is,but he said it was easy.
