I've got gl***packs on the 350 in the econoline. It's pretty loud when you are on it but it's not obnoxious. I've got no mufflers on the truck right now with a mildly warmed 390 and it's pretty ****in loud when the right pedal is down. I'm not diggin it. My neighbor is runnin straight pipes on a 360 and it's equally obnoxious, plus the ******* works nights and floors that thing everywhere he goes. I think you can get a great sound out of the right muffler but ya gotta do what pleases ya and keeps the law off of your back.

actually i run a muffler on my 29 roadster.vern tardel made the exhaust.maybe you've heard of him.he's been building hotrods since before you were born.lol just kidding...i'm building a open lakes header for the banger in my 29 because the muffler is too quiet, but for my kustom i want to be able to hear the radio! you made a good point though,i think loud pipes are WAY safer.on a sidenote,i re-did all the hangers the exhaust shop did(they rattled around!),and re-torqued the manifolds and it made a big difference....

'30 Model A coupe...full race 390 Cadillac with 6 two foot zoomies...loud...really loud...made removeable baffle inserts...about a third as loud...still holy **** loud compared to all the other **** on the road...I feel sorry for everybody else that they have to drive such boring ****...:D

Love both of 'em....wouldn't change a thing...run the straights...that mill is the only radio you need...

I have 2 1/4" pipes on my buick. I have a 375 horse 350 with headers and no mufflers. The pipes run all the way out the back. They are fine. Loud when you want them to be but if you keep your foot out of it they sound like just a loud exhaust. nothing that is overwhelming. Oh and they rap pretty good to even at over 2 inch. If I was to do it over I would have run 2 inch pie though. Still has a bit tougher sound when they are smaller.

2 1/2" pipe on my 60 Buick with a 401 nailhead. Idles quiet enough, but she really speaks her mind if I give her some encouragement. And highway dividers and bridges are FUN. And I speak the truth as I quote the old saying, "Loud pipes save lives." Saved my **** a time or 2, usually from the idiot on a cellphone paying attention to their conversation and ignoring the fact they're hurtling down the higway at 1/3 a football field per second.

Only once have I been pulled over and anything said about them, and that was by the local ***hole-in-a-cop-uniform. Funny part is that he couldn't give me a warning about them, the town has no "loud noise" law. He tried tho.

I run really short pipes on a flathead in my shoebox. It's surprisingly quiet considering the length of the headers. Like everyone already said; Fuzz has never h***led me, neighbors will hate you (especially if, like me, you live in condos or apartments) and it echoes off of everything (underp***es, medians, other cars, etc.) and everyone in a car with a wing wants to race. Otherwise it's a blast.

My 61 T-bird 390ci is running 2in pipes , no crossover, no mufflers. I love the sound at idle, fine at cruise, but very senstive to load or acceleration. I will probably get some mufflers installed when i decide what kind. I'm leaning toward gl***packs or steelpacks... The problem is that Flowmasters sound best at idle, but gl***packs sound best at speed. What to do, what to do...

I had straights on the 57 with a 235...I think 2 in pipes....sounded much better with a pair of 12" gl***paks...its still loud when I want it to be,but can be driven everyday. Oh yea....I installed the gl***packs backwards so they really don't do a lot...but you would be suprised at the difference in tone from straight pipes to these. I like it.

what do you need pictures for? it's a pipe with no mufflers. don't let the "straight" part fool ya, you can bend them if ya need to! you CAN'T however, run them if you're a homo.

I have mine necked down to 1.5" with some bike fishtails turned 90 and it's mellow when cruzing down the highway, but I still get that "bah cough" when I come to a stop.
