  5. I cut this ad out of the back of a magazine when I was about 8 and kept it in my dresser, and then in my billfold when I got one. The closest surplus auction then was at Hill AFB and I "heard" the Jeeps in a crate were still only $400-$450 but Dad wouldn't take time off from work for the 5 hour one way drive to bid on one so at 13 years old I used all my lawn mowing and poultry cleaning money to by a 1948 CJ-2A.
    Thanks for the memories Keef!

    That's really cool Dave.....
I am always fascinated by these miniature vehicle builds , I have a collection of Popular Science and Popular Mechanics magazine's dating from from 1932-60's , and they are filled with story's of guys that built miniature trains ,trucks and other things...and the smaller scale machinery to do the the work they needed... True Craftsman....l also have a large collection of car ,Hot Rod and others, magazine's and in a 1956 Rod and Custom Magazine I found this story "Baby Giant" it's a great story and great history....and your father a "True Craftsman".....you must be proud to have this kind of history in your family I must ask what ever happened with the trucks are they still around?
Thanks for posting your pictures it's nice to see this kind of stuff....Thank you
