Technical Ford 8HA or Holley 647 on 4-banger

I've seen many single or multiple Strombergs on a Model A or B engine. I am offered an 8HA (from a 226 Ford 6) on a cast iron downdraft manifold (with hot spot). Anybody with experience with this set-up? Any good on a warm 4-banger? Is a single barrel a disadvantage compared to the Stromberg two-barrel on a 4-banger engine?

Having had several dual and single downdrafts on A&B engines in various extents of hop ups, though not a Holley 8HA, my guess is that your set up will be satisfactory, especially since the 226 could run well at low RPM/CFM and part of its operating range/ CFM range would coincide with that of a Model A. My question is probably the same as yours: since the carb has one large barrel, will the A stumble when you suddenly open the throttle at low RPM? And again, maybe not since it was designed to operate in similar flow rates in the lower speed range, plus the Holley has an accelerating pump. I'd guess that if the carb is rebuilt right, it will work well.

It’s a Bendix Stromberg cast iron intake manifold. At one time the Stromberg carburetor has been swapped for the Ford 8HA which has the same footprint (SAE-2).

Manifolds were sold in Ford dealerships in 1931...early SVO program!
