Well it's naked now! Down to bare metal, and other than a few spots around the windshield and needing front lower quarter patches it's a solid old car.
A few before pictures of our hillbilly body stand setup. Also, if you can't hold your racecar up with one hand, it's too heavy!
To get more people to run the more traditional looking stack injection over modern intakes and carbs. Stacks are a little more difficult to tune until you get a handle on it. Then it becomes easier than carbs.
I think we've decided to name the 55 Home Grown also, but paint it green and do the lettering like dads altered he built and raced.
You guys are more patient than me - If me, l woulda had the rear wheel wells cut out already even just to set the tire in place when you had the nose setting on it - incredible body!!! - looking forward to reading this one - Thanks!
Got the rust cleaned off the chromoly rollcage and got it all painted black to keep that from ever happening again. It took a solid day of hand sanding to clean it. Lol. Now we can start moving bars around, and finish weld the cage.
Ahh Yes, another g***er build with you guys. I will be watching this one for sure. Thanks Zak, and your dad for taking us along . You guys are going to have a busy winter. LOL. Mike.
We're working on it! Lot of stuff to do. Ordered his axles, spool, rear wheels, and ladder bars/brackets. Getting ready to stick his rear end in it.
Better shoot some something on that body before you have flash rust all over it. Epoxy primer would be good. Setting on that cold bare concrete, it will attract moisture. Project is looking good. Wish I had someone to work on my g***er project with. Not my old man though, he was an a--hole when it came to hot rods and race cars. Consider yourself very lucky.
Yeah were gonna put some epoxy primer on the body soon. Where we got it dustless blasted, the water solution has some rust inhibitor in it so we've got a little time.
I had a truck Dustless Blasted. The rust inhibitor works pretty good. I like the Dustless Blasting process.
