frankenstiens progress so far.

just a lot of parts, welding, and planning, and mocking up right now. but here it is so far. (for those who dont hate me)

 

keep in mind that the body was FREE.

 

wow! are you torch welding all that??

 

yeah it was to rusty to weld it any other way. if i ground down the rust there wouldnt be much metal left.

so im going to leave all the welds, which will make it look like it has stitches! after i get it all welded up im gonna hammer it all straight and just paint it up.

ill use it till i got enuff cash to get a nice body... or maybe ill justkeep the rusty ol thing=)

 

Very bad ass!!!! I saw the acetylene hose are you oxy-acet. welding everything??? NOW That'd be old school Hammer welding the panels together! I cant wait to see her done. I've got a 28 dodge cowl and doors I gotta figure out something to do with. LOL !!!

yeah like i said in my other reply YES i am GAS welding it(oxy acet) and im doing it all with coat hangers for welding rod.(look at the pic)

anyway, about yer dodge cowl. i drew some pics on paint to make a modified body with sheet metal and steel tubing.

now on the one pic it shows the lower part of the body with it rolled under, you will need a shrinker stretcher to roll the rear corners under. for the top of the sheet metal you can use 1/4 pieces of exhaust tubing then on the inside you can make the skin of the car come straight down from the tubing. if you are confused just look at the pics and youll figure it out.

oh, where it says "folds" you dont actually fold it to a square edge, you bend it so that its rounded.


the "pipes" are what you make yer "beltline" of the body out of, you can get any size you need to match the curve of the ones on the car, they also give the body strength.

sorry those arent very quality, but you get the idea.

Damn I'm liking this...the side shot of the body has a filled rear 1/4 window look I'm really liking...

Was wondering how to finish off the welds etc, but the Frankenstein idea sounds neat.

25 years ago my Dad, brother, and I went to a farm auction and brought back what you have just welded together. Affectionately remembered as the "Pickster", the abomination was a '29 roadster with a '30 truck cab replacing the front half.

Don't know why it was built, cause it must have been done over fifty years ago when anyone could have just bought a coupe body down at the local scrappers. It's intention must have been farm-related, cause the rear outer rims were cut from the spokes and wide studded steel tractor rims were welded on ala' 1920 John Deere.

We cut it back apart and used or sold the good stuff.

yeah, zacks a good kid that just messed up on shipping, sold a bunch of stufff right before we went out to cali for a couple weeks... bad move on his part, it just happened that he didnt get the payments til we were back, things got messed up and people didnt get their stuff for over a month... its REALLY a shame, he meant well, didnt rip anyone off, and everything got straightened out... and yet he is still banned... hes a GREAT guy, would giv the shuolder off his backfor a fellow rodder, did for me when i didnt know ANYTHING, he would come over, help me fix things, teach me stuff, and never asked for a dime or even a meal (although i took care of him)... he has a WEALTH of knowledge and really deserves tio post here.. this is a true under a grand hot rod, built the way they used to back in the day with ANYTHING he can find for free or cheap, but still makin it cool;.... if anyone has a heart, ask ryan to let him back on.. just dont let him sell if thats the choice..

As for the POINT of this thread......neat car, I LOVE oxy torch welding.

 

Awesome to see something come together like this car with parts that were this close (my fingers are up in the air about half inch apart) to being left for dead. Badass engine! I've got my own Frankenstein going too. It's mostly 29 Essex with 28 Chevy truck doors. I plan to build the back wall and make it a coupe.

He's banned for a reason. On the list, Ryan states he made good on most of his deals. Not good enough. I remember him being quite smug in light of the fact that multiple people were very pissed...

you know, youre CUTE! i saw everything he shipped out, NONE was damaged and ALL was shipped... and ups will cover anything broken, i have bought things off here that showed up that were CRAP, or broken... i went to ups or fedex, they gladly paid me out of the insurance, things happen, hes a GREAT guy... if u were closer you would know... EVERYONE in this area owes him for something...

hell, some of the local guys just got together and bought him metal for his frame, i bought him an intake.. he just does favors for people, and we feel ilke we GOTTA make good on it...

he and i have a LOT to share, and like it or not, we are here... maybe not him... but he DID make good on all deals, and didnt ship ANYTHING damaged... ever... on top of everything else, the deals he gives people are REDICULOUS... i remember a guy frmo here we sold a COMP_LETE 53 chevy grill with surround AND a clean set of 53 fenders for $80!!!!!... i was there at delivery, guy was REAL happy.. its all abuot attitude, and he has a bad time here, i feel bad for him.. he has LOTS of knowledge, and is MORE giving than most guys here could ever be... i even said he should not be able to sell if its like taht... when people have a nice reaction to his project, he should be able to see it..

im just tryion to help a friend.. not sure why yuou ALWAYS feel like postin talkin *ish about me, you do it in LOTS of my posts... if u dont like him just dont post about it... i dont like you, but i think we need you here.
