Vintage Air is what we install at our shop. They have many in box type installs and then custom applications. Other than somewhat vague instruction they are pretty easy installs

I put vintage air in my '56, and like graveyardsledder said, the instructions aren't exactly 100%. With some head scratching and some fiddling, it all goes in pretty well.

I used a an early Mustang under dash unit in my 59/60 F100.
Fitted in ok and still have the stock heater working.
Mounted and fitted everything at home and then just took it to a shop to have it wired, piped and gassed.

The problem now is can not use the cowl vent handle hits the drop down panel that is installed under dash, and can not install control panel the back wire terminals hits the ac unit and it sticks out 1 inch from the face of the panel--
The problem is not the install it is all installed as far as it can go with the parts that do not come close to fitting--

any pictures of this unit installed in your 1953-55 Ford F-100 and using the cowl vent handle and supplied control panel---- Thanks

I did not use the VA direct fit , just the compact unit fit where I wanted it. I could not use the vent handle either so I used an electric motor to operate the vent.

Did not fit as a sure fit unit for a 1953-55 Ford F-100 it was a challenge to install the control panel , ac duct hose to driver side vent, can not use their glove box supplied, could not use the cowl vent handle had to remake a extension piece to make it opens and close--- After all problems were resolved vintage air listened and helped in the problems and was more then satisfied with there help and response.

Sure fit and universal fit descriptions of products scares the hell out of me.
Refer to my original post, take your time and go your own way.
You will learn more and get a decent outcome.
I like these as a start point at $75

This similar to what I used but more expensive, I went for it because it looked a little more period correct in my truck and was Ford based...

Hang in there and you will work it out.

I think the word you're looking for is reputable and I've always found Vintage Air good to work with.
