You. Carb setup and jetting and the rest of it has to be done on the particular engine it's installed. The best a carb rebuilder can do is get close.

Without knowing the engine or anything about you, where you live ,al***ude for example, it will be nearly impossible to help you.

Rebuild it. Put it on the vehicle, and see how it runs. Get back to us.

This ain't rocket surgery. You take it apart, and put it back together, swapping what's in the kit, for the parts that came out.

At just 4-years. I would just pull the top, set the float level, clean out any residue, and just run it

Typically carbs are rich and the jetting is set by the Venturi size so they will work with a wide ratio of cubic inches. A big inch engine needs a bigger cfm for optimum performance but will run fine with less. I believe your 1406 has a jet and metering rod tune kit available and you should have one as metering rod can be changed very quickly without loosing any fuel.

Thanks for all the replies. Never had a problem rebuilding a carb but I guess I got it in my head someone else (with a flow bench) could set it up for minimum tuning once installed. The engine is a old (80ish) 350 with 882 heads (1.94 intake valve) with a 2bbl stock intake. Just need a running engine for the truck not a performer. Truck is a 78 c10 with a 700r4 trans with 2k stall converter (less then 400 miles from my nova). Just need to get use out of this setup. Dumb *** DD wrecked the nova and I cant stand for the engine and trans to sit while i fix the body. Might as well fix the bugs whle at it.

I used a new 1406 on the stock 350 in my diamond t and it's perfect. Adjusted the idle speed and the mixture screws and done.

The 1406 is set up milder from the factory, so you might consider setting it up to 1405 specs. All the specs and manuals are available from Edelbrock online. Or, you can buy a used donor 1403 and swap in the 1403 boost venturis, main jets, and needles and turn it into a 600cfm.
