Sell that "street rod" ch***is & start over. You could have a clone in the garage in no time. ;) :D ;)

Wow! It just needs a few nasty repro warts swapped...
I wanna see the trans arrangement...it says '49 type Ford. How did they get that floor shifted and hooked up to the tube?? I'm betting it's actually a Lincoln OD adapted somehow to early Ford case...but whatever it is, I'd like to eyeball the installation.

It probably does not bang, rattel or shake when you drive it. I would not know what to listen for to make sure it's running right.

I'm in awe too, last I looked bid was $65K and had not met reserve. Seems a little rich for my blood.

My dad is the high bidder right now, but knows that it will go through the roof before it ends. Besides, he already has a 3-Window- the one Rudy is working on in the new R&C. I know he would love to have that car though.

Bruce, I've read in several '50s little books about swapping a '49 tailshaft onto a '39 trans in order to gain open drive (often paired back then with a shoebox rear end). Is it possible they used this method to gain the OD? I don't know about the torque tube adaptation, though.

    Great car, thanks for sharing.

I don't understand this gain open drive? Is that like gaining hemorrhoids? :)

I'd like to see pictures of any conversion that adds OD to a Ford toploader. And I'm ***uming the Lincoln parts Bruce speaks of are from a TT car and perfect for a swap to add OD and keep the tube. Thus making them extermely rare and worth exactly one thousand dollars more than what you could ever s****e togther at any given time.

If I had the car I would rip that drivetrain out, adapt it to my roadster, and s**** the rest - it's missing two windows!

Correct phrase is "to lose proper suspension geometry..."
'49 type trans is a close relative to early Ford, but I don't think close enough to adapt to floor case...I think it might well fit a Lincold OD, but don't know...
Neal in California has discovered rear part of Lincoln case differs from Ford non-OD case...All Lincoln OD's are side shift...scarce and expensive, a double whammy on price since they contain 25 or 26 tooth gears...I wanna know what gives under that coupe.

I need to build another garage.....and then I will be like the little boy who found 5 dollars.......he had no wallet..so he bought a $5 wallet and then had nothing to put it in....

If I buy the car........I will be too broke to build another garage...if I build the garage.....no money left for the car....

No offense, but that's been my thought all along.

Nice '32 sheet metal deserves better.

Randy, you sidestepped the street rod ch***is issue. With your ch***is, you're building a street rod. There isn't one part I've seen on your ch***is that I would have put on a car I'd build. We like hot rods. You say you want a hot rod, and you're building a street rod.

That picture of my coupe is two years old. It's tucked away in storage, but it's not for sale and it won't be. The roadster is just far more important to me. It will be a roller by fall, and we plan to do a second roadster as well. All with neat, old parts.

If I bought that car, could I be in the Deuces only club, and talk about it on the internet all the time?

I was just kidding. Randy's ch***is makes a lot of sense for a man wanting to rack up some miles.

I don't blame him one bit.

Who voted you the 'Hot Rod ' determinator ??
You build your 3W your way.......I will build mine to suit me.....:)
I drive my cars.......and a 700R4, a 9 inch and A/C makes good sense...to me.....My old 32 Henry roadster.....' may be a street rod ' by your definition....but it has over 50 thousand miles on it in the last 10 years .....and 6 of those I drove my 40 Ford coupe .....almost exclusively....My stuff does not sit around.....waiting to be worked on or driven.. At my age....I ain't got the time......to wait....I want to ride...

Just because I have a ' Street Rod 32 ' ( by your definition ) does not mean I cannot appreciate and want a old timey 32 with a flattie also....

That car is 'muy bueno' - but I get the feeling that for that kind of money the person wouldn't be a real 'hamber'
