Well like Ryan a few months ago.. I just got home from Maui...I hate reality..I want the Island Life.. The whole time I was there, I was thinking how amazing it would be to drive around in Hawaii in a roadster..I know the sea would eat the car ..but I wouldn't care..lush mountains, clear water, always 79 degrees,,,Perfect hot rod weather,,So I kept my eyes peeled for any thing resembling a Hot Rod or Custom...Sure enough I found some stuff.. I did see a 32 Roadster..Yellow with a white top, Red smoothies and white walls, SBC Etc...It was p***ing me on the other side of the road and I didn't get my camera out fast enough..But I did snap some pix of some good potential cars that colud live the life... This car was here since 1924 Possible old speedster? heres a Dodge..I think the roof was cut off.. Heres a taxi in Lahina Hard Rock p***ing by I wanted to make the Drag Race on the weekend but I was too busy at the beach.
Heres a cool Flat roof house...I wish I could own. And of course TIKIS...I shot a **** load of Tikis.. well I'm going to catch up on some sleep... L8 evel
Evel, Looks like you went to the same places my wife and I did. I guess it's not hard to do, it is a relatively small island. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. We were there back in August and I can't stop thinking about going back. It'll have to wait though, this May we are heading to Rome. Think I'll see any rods there? Probably not but I'll keep the eyes peeled!. Koachwerks
Cool pic's...I didn't see anything when I was there a couple of years ago...looking in the wrong places I guess.
I used to live in Lahaine , Maui, for a short time. Up the hill in Lahaine used to be the local car dumping ground. I guess people would dump their cars up there. A****st schoolbuses and newer cars I found some 30's iron. But because of the terrain I could not retrieve anything good, bummer.Rust is also a big issue in Hawaii. It might look good sitting there but as soon as you touch it falls appart.
unfortunatly Don was on the Big Island. but heres a pic of him making out with Elvis. Always the PIMP
Where in Lahina was that T?? That taxi has 800k miles on it! This past Friday was our 6 month wedding aniversary... (married at Makena Cove) I miss Hawaii. No lie, when you are sitting on a surfboard looking out at the island, it would be very easy to trade all the hot rods in on that solitary surfboard...
It was on a side street I just happen to turn down.. I will retire in Maui and drive the **** out of the Madster there.. I'm having island withdrawl. If I could doit again I would get Married there...Makena was awesome.. we did some good snorkling there..Saw Octapuss and sea Turtles there..
I have eaten in both those Hard Rock Cafe's. My wife's Uncle owns a couple of houses in Lahina. He lives right by the golf course (hole 8 and 9) in Pukalani (in the mountains on the north side of the Island) and her Aunt lives in Kahului. We stayed with him for a few days, and in a condo in Kehea last summer. These are all on the Island of Maui. We went to Ohau and Kauai a couple of years ago. My wife is of Phillipino and Hawaiian Decent and was born there. Maui is by far a much more fun island to stay and visit! If you visit, go there! Drive the Road to Hana and Allot ALL (yes ALL) day to do it in so you can stop at the fruit stands, the water falls, the senic trails, and the black beach and swim. That road is a trip to drive! Your mirror s****es Rock cliff going there, and you can spit out the p***enger window coming back which falls down the valleys about a hundred feet till hitting a tree or the ocean. Then you get the logging trucks blasting through the one lane bridges! It rains on you around every bend from the rain forrest and air hitting the side of the mountains. Its s plumb crazy drive (till you learn the secret that is)!!!!!!!!!!!!
