Customs Finally Finished My 51

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Emperor Chris, Dec 10, 2017.

  1. Hello fellow HAMBers. Well after five years of hard work and support from my wife, car club and a few other friends, I am finally finished building my 51. I got it bone stock five years ago and built the majority of this in my garage. I thought you would like to see some pictures. I hope you enjoy! 23622441_10203972624232699_2062194109365712089_n.jpg 21617469_1470105029747543_9186445433963658933_n.jpg 21686081_1470105106414202_6363215509169162592_n.jpg 21687604_1470105109747535_1114871919301093336_n.jpg 21687687_1470105043080875_865596616247108666_n.jpg

Nice and clean. Not an ounce of "over the top" crap.

You nailed it from A to Z. Makes me want to get back to working on my '50. The front end on your car is perfect!

  21. Yes Sir! Well done. Mind me asking about your Steering Wheel? Were you just Dang lucky to find a Cherry one or? I plan to use the total Lincoln unit column and all in mine being I have the Olds hydro with R on the bottom of the shift pattern. My wheel needs help to say the least.

  23. I found it on eBay a couple of years ago before prices went crazy on them. I disassembled it, had everything rechromed and ground out/beveled all the cracks. I forgot the name of the stuff I used to fix the cracks. The horn button was pretty nice so luckily I didn’t have to chase down a clean one.

I'd like to know what you used for the grille bar, to me, it is reminiscent of a Corvair front bumper but I am fairly sure if it is it had lots of modifications, I think it is one of the nicest styled 51's that I have seen, good job.

  26. Thank you. The ends of the grille are factory 51 Ford. I hand formed the center portion and brazed it all together to make a one piece grille.

That's a great looking car. You should be proud to have that in the garage.
