Jeff, I previously posted here looking for help to identify some wheels. Please follow link to my post to get all the background: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/can-anyone-identify-these-rear-wheels.1089268/ Basically I was looking to identify the rear wheels on the Jokermobile from the Batman show: Another member (Toner283) was nice enough to post this photo which he believed were the wheels I was looking to identify: These wheels were apparently on a car owned by a gentleman named Robert in Quebec who you reportedly spoke with at the Jalopy Jam this past summer. If you have any information regarding these wheels I'd really appreciate it if you could reply here.
Probably could be made from those. I have also found some aftermarket wheels that closely resemble the ones I'm looking for. But if I could acquire a set of the original wheels it would make the car project so much better.
I just received contact info for Robert who owns the car in question from a very kind and helpful member so this post is now obsolete.
Were they not made by a 'truck' wheel manufacture? The classic 'white spoke' steel wheels. I sorta remember an article in SR, and that the hub was sized for the 34 cap, I think they were called 'Hubcapper's'.... Western Wheel?
Is this the SR issue you were talking about typo41? It could be the same wheels as what's on teh Jokermobile but it's hard to get a good head on close up.
Maybe the Joker touring had the "hubcappers" without the center hub area? Maybe the guy who made the hubcappers used a ready made center section and added the sticking out portion that the cap snaps into?
The 1976 issue that has "new" hubbcapper rod wheel would not have been there in 1966. In the hubcapper wheel, the hole's one side is the hoop, in the joker wheel the hole is contained within the center. The joker wheel's center looks flat and hoop is really deep and really flat. Then the center looks like it's not fully in contact with the hoop They sorta look cheap JC Whitney type stuff
Thanks to Terry at AKH Wheels out in Washington State I believe the rear wheels are Raders DBR 200I. This makes sense since Raders (DBR 990) were also used on the front. See the photo in this ad of the wheel in the top row; second from the left and see if you agree.
BatRestorer..... Robert DiPietro owns that A coupe....He told me all about the company and i have forgotten info on those wheels... I believe it was a company out of Cali. than came and went pretty fast..... A very rare wheel, where he only found a single in his years of searching for more after acquiring the full set. I will PM you after I track down Robert. Jeff
