Hi there! I am Robert from Germany and i want to show you my latest project: Found this given up "hotrod project" on ebay earlier this year and got it dirt cheap. It consists of a home-made frame and partial body, 21stud engine, 4speed ******, steering gear and more parts from a british 1937 Fordson 7V Truck, new 4" dropped front axle with split wishbones, spindles and some small parts, Opel rear end. Since the budget is tight plans are to turn this into kinda race car for dirttrack race events around here and in Sweden. I could not live with the frame, especially with the rails consisting of 3 welded pieces of sheet metal. and so i bought new ASC rails and Model A frontmember, universal x-member and spreader bars from Jocar in Sweden, nice parts. Gotta find the time to put it all together... The engine is actually not too bad and needs only new rings and some valves with guides. I got a nice 4speed Volvo toploader ****** and propeller shaft, perfect for me. Bought many parts from american ebay, like Stromberg 97 carbs, water pumps, Johnson adjustable lifters and more. Hehe, exactly THIS is the biggest challenge for me. For sure Henry was a genius, but i have some ideas about the engine, (or maybe the frenchie i am looking for). This is not my first flathead engine, i got a nice, very special 1937 harley ulh (80 ci flathead) with mahle pistons, longer carillo rods, altered cams and some more goodies, running very strong. Lets see what i can do to the ford flathead. First step will be to finish a rolling ch***ie with a runing engine and drivetrain.
I didn't think you could put the words "low budget", and "deuce" in the same sentence. Glad to see someone not willing to give up on a project like that
This should get interesting. That bike for sure has the European "he rides me any where at any time" look to it. I'd expect that we are going to see a car that while well finished has a similar at***ude to it's final look. s l
I try hard, but i dont insist on 100% oem parts, and i am not going to buy a brookville body (very nice but way out of my budget). For sure this will never be a show winner, but on the other hand i dont like that rat style that much, cl***ic race car could be an approach. But i like to have the option for later road registration, hence i will start with a really nice frame for a good basis. I have many friends in our local hotrod scene, willing to help me out.
I don't doubt the build it self will be in a budget, but in the US you have to sell your first born for anything deuce especially original Henry steel
