I've got a car that I sprayed in pink primer over 25 years ago. Sure was different back then.

  4. White, Baby Blue, Red Oxide, black, and grey were all popular in So Cal in the 50's. So were primer spots, had to have primer to be happening on your car!

A few primer spots & tinted primer, supposed to be yellow but shop lights make it look like neon green!! Top will be tinted white. P.S. Guard cat on duty!! IMG_1205.JPG IMG_1206.JPG IMG_1122.JPG IMG_1123.JPG IMG_1128.JPG

  6. I primed my 55 Ford in 1969. It was kind of a purple(ish) color I thought. The lady from across the street called the car "old rose" from then on. Only picture I have of the car is in black & white ... damn.

I was apprehensive at first but after it looks so much better than before, also makes a good guide coat for block sanding

<<<<< Purple tint in gray primer that was freshly put on about three days before I left for Bonneville in my buddy's driveway. The truck usually got a fresh coat of tinted primer just before the Yakima Vintiques show every year for about ten years.

  10. It might be fun to do a few different, contrasting colors before sanding the highs-n-lows. Then take a couple laps around the clubhouse and a small, local car meet to show-off the "Fordite finish".

We used tinted primer a lot in the late 60's. No clear coat back then.

I used a light green tinted primer on my '55 Buick Special.

  16. Anything one uniform color looks better that 50 shades of bodywork no matter what color it is.
That's mind boggling :eek::eek: sometimes. It totally removes any illusions of progress.

I like my primer tinted black :D
Turn grey when you sand it, great guide coat for the first sanding.

My moms garage interior needed a coat of paint, I mixed every single leftover of interior paint I had and came up with 5 gallons of of a light blueish beige she called bluuuiege. Right after I painted It did look atotbbetter because it was one color. "WOW" so much better. By the end of that week she hated bluuuiege and I needed to paint it again.
