These shock mounts were bought by me for my r/e I cannot figure out how they mount. One picture should be enough. did a search but the pictures have been deleted. Can't figure rt from left.[
Got it figured out. Was just too much for the moment, Rear end mock up on saw horses and old man just don't work. Does now.
I don't know .I saw them at a swap meet and knew what they were. I have a set of original ones off of a 48 ford if you might be interested. There is a story behind them thought. Some work needed.
They go where the rear radius rods mount to the backing plates. This was a common after market item back in the days.
As I recall, the '48 Fords and Merc's came stock with the tube shocks, front and rear. I converted the Columbia under my '36 from s '36 unit to a '48 Columbia in 1955. The '42-48 rear axle is 2" wider than the '35-41, the added width does not present a problem if the early drive line/torque tube and complete banjo ***embly is used with the later model Columbia. The long radius bars from a '37-38 have to be used as does the later model rear spring. The '48 rear end also had a Panhard/track bar, a nice added feature to a earlier car. I have attached a couple of pix of the '48 Columbia under my '36.. The whole ***embly is a bolt together unit. The '35-40 rear upper tube shock mounts are either from a '48 or a pick up. I have posted this info on the FordBarn and EFV8 forums many times..
