OK guys, I bet you thought I quit!! It's been really hot here in Georgia and it's been hard to stay motivated! With some helping hands here on the fourm (big thanks to TagMan and the guys for reading my pinion pattern over pictures). I have my differential rebuilt and my frame has arrived! I guess my next step is to get my differential brackets and shock mounts welded up! Being that this is the first car I've built.... do I need to get my engine/transmission in place so I can get the correct pinion angle? Thanks kris Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
So, today I had the time to cut the shock and spring perches off the differential and clean the housing up a bit. I also took the time to go to the hardware store and buy hardware for the spring and shock mounts. I am using a Pete and Jakes ladder bar set up. Once everything was bolted up I cut one of the differential spring brackets in half To tack into position. This is where trouble begins. Turns out I'm using ford 9" with 3.25" tubes. My brackets are for 3". I looked online and didn't see a 3.25 listed by P&j. I will call them Monday. This means none of my brackets with fit. Spring or ladder bar without several cuts [emoji36]. So I'm still trying to figure out my wheels and tires but I'm getting my chassis sorted Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
So it’s been a while since I have posted, but I have been plugging away. I rebuilt a th350 transmission that I have been saving for 10 years [emoji848] and secured a Chevy 5.3 ls based engine. I ordered my wheels from performance wheel plus Tire. They are the hrh 16x4.5” genies powder coated black. I went with the 16x5.00 firestone in the front and 16x7.50 in the rear. I’m really happy with the wheels. Solid choice, and the finish is awesome. I originally wanted white walls but the build has switched directions and color schemes so white walls were tossed out . So, How do you shave 10” of the height of a Chevy ls motor? With a 2000 Camaro oil pan and corvette ls6 intake of course! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
