I just had my fluid drive rebuilt (for a 64 Olds Dynamic 88 w/ 394) and I am looking to get rid of it now. I have my paperwork from the rebuild, and I am just wondering what it is worth if i put it on here for sale. I am not going to lie to you...it has been back in for seals twice and it has a small leak now. I have no idea why. A fellow HAMBer sent me a link to a place that sells adapters for my 394 to 350 Chevy, so I am wanting to unload this thing. Any input would help

Fluid drive is a Dodge transmission. You must have something else.

SORRY! I meant Slim Jim.. I was thinking of my 40 Chrysler tranny. Too much stuff on the brain.

    That makes more sense.

I bet that tranny would do really well on eBay, those transmissions are troublesome and there are probably plenty of owners who would love to get their hands on a rebuilt one. I don't know that I could put a definite number on it but there's certainly a demand for them.

hopefully things have changed in the past 4 years- but in '02 I sold a disassembled 394 and complete tranny in good working order for $25 :(

Don't know what you paid for yours but the rebuild of the slim-jim for my '63 Cat ran me about $1100 which included the complete kit of seals and hard parts, a filter, and the damper plate plus the labor. I've seen proven, good working order rebuilts sell in the $300-500 range. There's definitely a market for that trans but they have to be rebuilt correctly and not just any transmission shop can do it correctly.

For what it's worth I wouldn't do it again, I'd just use an adapter and run a TH350 or TH400.
