I am installing a 302 into a 56 ford 2 door hardtop for a customer and it has some questionable motor mounts to say the least. I was hoping to find something better in the search but came up empty handed. What did you guys use on yours? Is there a bolt in? What about trans mount? Just doin some research before stabbing it in to be sure of the best options available to him. Thanks in advance.

I am using 1984 Lincoln Mark VII motor mounts that has a 302 .
Part numbers are 2725 & 2726 from Federated Auto Supply .
I ordered mine from Rock Auto on the internet and were about $60+ last summer . The numbers are also used by many other makers of engine mounts !
BTW , the 52 to 56 group can help you out a lot with your engine swap or any other up grades you will be doing with your 56 Ford !

With using the lincoln motor mounts does that still allow you to keep the original frame mount or crossmember?

Click on this:http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=22415 For your own good read it all the way through and look at the pictures it seems there are some variables that guys have run into. In almost 90% of the installs I have advised on here and on other forums the 2725 & 2726 mounts have worked if you use a C4 or AOD and an Energy Suspension 4.1122R mount will work well on the factory transmission crossmember.I would go ahead and slot the frame mounts as shown in the pictures and you will be OK,the 289-302-5.0 are longer if you use the later '70 and up long pumps and pulleys. The early 65-69 water pumps are shorter and nice aftermarket pulleys are available for them at decent prices, you do need to swap to a front sump oil pan and dipstick like '66-69 Mustangs new ones are under $50 pm me for sources if you want.

so. Looks like it will be a 351w that is going into this. How does this change the game? I noticed it is taller, but is it longer as well?

The 351w is slightly higher but more importantly 1-2 inches wider, depending on what accessories you are running on the front of the motor it can make quite a difference.

  12. Get the stock engine to crossmember mounts for a 63 ford galaxie with a 260. and drill a hole in the center between the two that are present on your stock crossmember.

Pretty sure that is how my '56 was done, and my friend did his the same way, but it's been forty years.
