Picture of Union Park sponsored Pontiac is of Harold Ramsey who previously raced a killer 1957 283 fuel injected Chevy that I believe won the NHRA nationals in Detroit 1958? He and his wife used to flat tow the fuel injected 283 hp with a dual four barrel 270 hp Chevy convertible.

The Stubby Stubblefield driven "Catfish" at a dirt track. Stubblefield actually won a 100 miler at Roby, Indiana in this car although I'm not sure if that's where this photo was taken. This car utilized some pretty decent aerodynamic concepts for the time. And when you think about it now maybe that big rear fin worked a little like the side plates on one of today's winged sprint cars and made the left rear work better on the dirt tracks.

BTW, for whatever reason you generally don't see a lot of photos with the two man cars on dirt.

    Thanks, Rootie.

OK I like "an alluring fragrance" as much as the next guy but what the hell does Basin ST. smell like? Basin Street?

  4. The red touring may just be a generic car but there are hints of circa 1913 National about it.

  5. Maybe a JD Harley? - one of the quickest things on the road in its day. With the speedo mounted there you would not want to be thrown forward in a hurry!

That is a "Dodo bird" right there!
A Borgward Isabella Coupe [they ceased production in 1961]I've only ever seen one in my life back in the early 70's owned by a friends grandparents

The Borgward name has been revised 54 years later as a joint venture in China . They now produce a Borgward SUV

LGS you could be right on the car being a 1913 National. Now that I blew the picture up is size, the radiator does appear to have the distinctive National radiator. Several years ago at the Meadowbrook concours there was a gray National touring car that was one of the best big early cars I have ever seen. I probably have a picture of it but cannot locate it.

I think it was at Readville (Boston) Mass. Kind of a obscure track that little real info exists. Champ Car Stats. only shows one race there in 1905, But it did host Champ cars well into the 1930s but maybe unsanctioned (?) I really don't know.

Jones Fantastic Museum. Kind of a freak show, roadside attraction, and antique stuff place all rolled in to one. I'm not quiet old enough to remember it located on HI way 99 but I do remember it at Seattle Center. Goofy Stuff but fun for a pre teen kid.
