sorry i have no tech, i dont know what im doing half the time when im doing it. anyways i decided to drop the nailhead in to get an idea of how its gonna fit (ive been staring at the motor, then look at the truck, then back at the motor, then back at the truck and my neck was starting to hurt) also some things ive changed ont the truck are a couple things to improve the visuals.. when i originally made the frame the front rails were straight and that has always bugged me so i decided to "pinch" them in a bit to give them a tapper.i made some pie slits on the inside of the rail and pulled them in ,then welded them back. since i had the front crossmember out at this point i wanted to raise the front up about an inch out of the suicide perch which would in turn raise it,, ,but after talking about it with FatHack i decided to go 1 1/2 due to compensate for the extra weight of the nailhead compared to the buick 350. its not actually noticable as far as the height of the cab goes, ,but as and added benifit since my radiator and grill are mounted of of my suicide perch. the grill stayed in the same relation to the ground while the cowl of the cab raised up so they are pretty much lined up now... well, back to the garage for a lil while, now i have to stare at it some more and figure out some motor mounts. oh yeah,i guess you like my nasty cut in the fire wall for the distributor,, im gonna have to start drinking coffee i guess later
Ah i love that truck... Since the burnout picture(bleading brake thread), i have been hooked... Nice man, i can see a difference!
Hey! Cool to see the truck again! Lookin' good, too...glad to see some progress with the Nailhead conversion underway...nice to see a cool and unique ride evolve over time...they ain't ever DONE, just between changes, right?!?! When we gonna see some Spy Photos of the Buick 350 powered Shoebox??? (Love those lightweight Underdog motors, Man! ) Great post, Sammy...we need MORE!
Hey ****, COol pics..... I'm with Hack, show us some more. The only thing that is wrong with that truck is the bed.... It needs a flat bed.. Show us some more smokey burnout pics soon. JT.
ack... the pics are gone ****, there a way we can get those pics? if you want, i can post them up onto my starphoto accnt
they're in your cache JT... those of us that hadn't already viewed them can no longer see them. whoever is hosting them has blocked the HAMB from stealing the bandwidth...
Hey ****, try photobucket.com some one told me about that along time ago, since then i have been useing it.. works great, real easy and the hosting is free.
****, Your truck looks pretty cool, but since you posted pics I ***ume you're after opinions.. (or maybe just showing off!) Anyway, can you slide the grille back a little bit, like maybe 2-3 inches? I think the proportions are off with the shell stickin' way out there like that. Actually, on second glance, here's what I'm thinking -- the shell is too "heavy." It would look leaner if you trimmed a few inches off the back and then slid it back so the back is located in the same relative position. That's what I'm seeing in my head, anyway. Your reality may differ. Ed

[/ QUOTE ] to each his own they say... I think flatbeds throw off the visual weight and make the cab too big looking... and a bit too ******-tonk. hehe

Different... plus its a budget rod, so i even like more!
Fellas, While I do love flat beds.....I was just joking about ****'s truck needing one. I would love to see an early truck like this done with a flat bed, but I think THIS particular truck is damn near perfect and certainly does not need a flat bed. What is not perfect about it you ask? Its not in MY garage..... Rock on Sammy! (I'm still gonna put a flat bed on my truck) Later gators, JT.
Glad those pics showed up...Nice truck! By the way, aren't you about at the upper allowable limit of toys in the driveway? Lucky shi...
Put gunk on the nailhead?? Heck no...thats PATINA!!!! Just put a shoulder harness in the p***enger side cause I know how you drive!! See you guys in the spring or at Louisville.
Dude, your truck friggin rocks... you got me wanting to get rid of my fleetline project and start searchin for a truck!
i know VonTingler was joking,,that was an inside joke andysdeuce,,i plan on driving this thing crazy,so take your gerital before you hope in! Marcus,,belive me,ive been wanting to deFUNKIFY the motor since i drug it home, but with temps in the teens and mid 30's it hasnt really been an option,,, i wasnt trying to SHOW OFF by posting those pic(s) ..i(myself) was just TOTALLY stokked cuz since when i drug home the rusty cab that is now this truck, the people that actually know me ,know that i wanted a nailhead from the start.. ..and it just so happens that it is THEE nailhead that ive wanted since back in '99 when i first laid eyes on THIS nailhead, and the then owner mentioned he was gonna pull it out to put a SBC or BBC in it,well, its took a while to finnaly get it,and now that its in my truck ,i was stokked,, sorry for posting a pic and edmurder, thanks for the contructive critisism, but the thing about moving the grill wont work,,for starters, the grill is up on the suicide mount, and the fan of the engine is real close up on the other side of the mount... ..secondly, i honestly thought about what you said all night long,it seems valid, maybe its cuz the pic i posted is kinda abstract,,but in all honesty,if i woulda posted a pic of the entire truck then you woulda seen how dumb pulling the grill back would look,it would make it look snubnose-ish ,but thanks for you comment.
****, After seeing the photos of your truck I thought a truck being worked on locally might blow your skirt up. I'll try to attach a couple of photos. This one was built as a 1/4 miler but is being readied for the street. It may be SLIGHTLY overpowered for that purpose. It should be one of those "Hang on and shut the **** up" kind of cars.
