I bought some Bellflowers from Barret Jackson ( thanks Man ).
I installed them at my Buddies Budget Brake and Muffler shop he owns( Thanks Mike ).

we positioned them for about a half an hour.( I like it!! ) I wanted them to be on the underside of The Quarter but it wouldn't work. We tacked em so the 90 in the Chrome bend was level and went straight into the wheel well and it looked all wrong. The Angles of my 1/4's are sloped in up and back so it was a nightmaire to get them so they didn't stick way out the back so I saidFUCK IT and went for the shotgun/ side pipe look.I eliminated the Triangle of void space that showed from the 1/4 pannel slopin way up from wheel to bumper.I followed the lines of my Wings both Plum and Parralell..

WTF..be honest..what do you think of how it looks..is it right/wrong/unique/or good.
Be fuckin honest..I need it right now.....

    Welllllll........since you asked.
I think it looks goofy. Stick too far out from the body. Just my .02. Maybe a complete side view of the car.

BTW-I see you're from B.C. Can I expect to see your car down here at some Washington shows???:D Looks to be a bitchin' ride!

Let me find a pic of Macs starliner...I personally think that they need to be tucked under a little, and not so far off the side of the body as they are. But when all is said and done...do YOU like it? Thats the question!

OK, these are the only ones I could find at the moment...sorry the shot I wanted is too far away to see detail, and the other not enough... I realize now that you may not be able to set them the same since the starliner had the rear wells radiused. On that note...is the shape quarter panel the same for the longroof as the starliner? Or does it curve in more?

The wagon Curves in and it tapers up from well to Bumper a bit more on The wagon VS the Sunliner/Starliner. I actually took a REAL GOOD LOOK at That Ride in The Viva Los Vegas Pics. I tryed that mount when I started and it looked like the Pipe was going Uphill and it hung out way past The Bumper. It took a good 4 hours to get them mounted...and That's with the help from a Friend who is a Pro. The Fukin Second Pipe is a Bitch to match because from the back it has to look level and the same height.

i like the way they are. i particularly dig the way the bend comes down from the wheelwell. only thing i'd do is weld a stainless bracket near the rear to keep em in place.

honestly I don't think it flows...but what do I know...I've got some pipes hanging out my hood. If you like it, then its all good because you're the one driving it...

That's what I thought... But in the long run, you like it, they are even and it is still a nice car!

i think the issue is that the car sits to high. :D lower it and tuck em under the qtr a little and you will be golden. but thats what every one else said.

    Bitching car by the way

Sounds like you're not sure about the aesthetics. Lookin at 'em, it looks like they need to follow the ramp angle of the rear of the car. I'd run 'em an see if they keep bugging you. Later, take em down and bend em up like this:

the issue is that the car sits too high in the back. the whole car is kinda canted downward towards the front, but if the body were lower and a lot more level it would look great! i'm not sure about it following the angle of the quarter... it's better more 'level' but in order for it to work, the stance has to be fixed a bit.

Dig the car. Dig the bellflower tips. But I don't care for the exhaust breaking the plane of the wheel well opening. It definitely interrupts the flow of the opening and clutters up the rear panel. It sounds like you've had a helluva time with them, and maybe not worth the trouble... But if it were mine, I'd tuck them in better, and run them parallel with the lower edge of the panel out to the bumper. Sorry I can't offer suggestions for how to better achieve that configuration on your wagon... sure sounds like you've tried a lot already.

    You said be honest...
The owner of the green car didn't so I'll try not to make any comments that reference it.

I think the profile look is great.
Bellflowers NEED to be parallel to the rocker panels to look right.
If they stick up in the rear, even if the 1/4 panel does, they look "bent" like they dragged too many driveways.
But that is assuming the car is lowered like Bellflower style customs, which is dead nuts level, no rake.
The only way following the rocker works is if the car is on a tail dragger rake, which, to me, looks East coast sled, or South LA lowrider style, and then they need to be level with the ground.
Ultimately, either way the pipes end up level to the ground.

I said the profile worked, but they are too far out, and it's not just at the 1/4 panel, it's at the bumper too.
They're floating out there in space and not interacting with the design of the car's rear end.
There's a few ways to fix it.

#1. cut the bottom of the 1/4 panel off level as needed, finish the metal and repaint.
    I know it's new paint.
I can almost smell the clear coat kicking from the pics...

I saw a '61 Olds at Back to the Beach that went as far as grafting in a concave 1/4 section of tube that was about an inch bigger radius than the Bellflower and tucked the pipe up into that, really clean!

#2. and this is the one I'd do, because I think what the pipes look like from the rear is at least as important as the side view, is move the pipe inboard till it is directly beneath your blue dots and bumper bolts.
It will still show it's sneaky self in the side view and solve your clearance problem.

You do potentially have a width clearance problem too.
At least you would in the USA.
That car was built wider than what was legal in 1960 in the first place!
    :D

#3 Stick with what you got now.
Like I said, it looks great in the profile view and that's what most people see whan it's motoring down the blvd.

quick and messy-I don't know; I think lowering the back looks best. I also think you need some panels/stripes/something to break up that big red space but this is about the pipes, not the paint:rolleyes:

  30. You want Honest? They look bad-and not in a good way. Hardly any car IMO looks good with B'flowers. We(the proverbial we) go to lots of trouble to make a car sleek, low and smooth and then we hang part of the undercarriage out in the open. Doesn't make good sense or good style.
