Having a problem with the p*** side door gl*** on a '56 crown vic. It wiill go down about 4" and seems to hit on something and I can't see what is stopping it. I need to remove the window and the fly window. Will this manual show me how to remove the gl***. Is this "Body section" included in this manual??? Thanks, Joe.

Look for a rubber bump stop.

Yes, the body section is in there as well as instructions to remove gl*** and regulator.

Is this a new problem? Is it oem window regulators or aftermarket electric? Is it coming to a hard stop, or is it a gradual binding? I don't think it would be the bump stop, Jeff, he said it's only going down about 4". At least if your thinking the bump stop at the bottom is out of position.
I'm thinking more along the lines of maybe repairs or modifications to the door with screws maybe a little too long, etc.

It's been like this since I got it about two yrs. ago. I finally got around to doing some work on it. Pulling some trim to repaint. Window is oem, not electric. Need to pull window as someone, PO, used rivets on window wipes. Also, the fly window has had repair and I will probably have to replace it. I just can't see what the window is bumping into.

    Joe,
that manual will guide you well. Wear hand and arm protection when you root around in those doors...lots of sharp stuff in there.
I agree with Tex that it could be an extra long screw. Look at the window tracks after you pull the door panel for bindind and missing fasteners too.

Found the problem. The bottom stop had been installed by the PO upside down and the linkage was bottoming out on it and wouldn't let the window go down. I removed the stop and now the window does go down. I did find that the rear roller guide was almost off. The clip that holds it was laying on the door bottom. I see that the forward roller appears to have a spring. This spring, if it takes one, is missing on the rear roller. If I need one, any idea who sells these???

Several suppliers do, I see cl***icautoparts.com has them. BA-23240-70A $1.95 each.

Glad you found the problem...guess Jeff had it nailed to begin with. Check the bottom of the door for that missing retainer clip.

If you want just a spring and not a new roller I may have one.

Roller and clip look OK. I could use the spring. Maybe you can put it in an envelope and mail it. I sent a PM. Thanks Joe.

if that pic with the partial roller is all you have then you are also missing the other half of roller.

LOL.....My wife uses the term "out of pocket" at work to mean she is not available, or can't be reached, etc. To me and I think most of the world, "out of pocket" refers to expenses that are paid by an individual rather than something that is covered by the business they work for. Your only the second person I've ever heard use it that way....my wife's a native Texan, I am not. Do you know my wife?

That is a fairly common term around here. Glad you got it Joe, hope it solves the problem.

Nope. Don't know your wife. But yes, I have used that terms both ways, and in this instance l think the term applies both ways. I was at a hospital with my mom and hard to reach, and will also be "out of pocket" moneywise as the cost wasn't 100% covered by insurance. LOL....Luckily everything in OK. and the spring and roller should take care of this window problem. Thanks Joe.

I fully understand about your Mom. Both of my folks lived until their mid 90’s. The last two/three years I spent many hours dealing with that type of stuff. Hope your Mom is ok now.
