So thought I would share about my dipstick dilemma. I have a 289 originally a font sump oil pan Which I had to make a rear sump pan to clear the cross member/ Its going in a 1953 ford customline. The original dipstick was in the front of motor that went through the timing cover. This would not register the oil properly any more scents its now a rear sump pan. We don't want to blow up the motor now. So I tried to find info On what to do with no luck. so I figure Id post this and maybe it will help some one down the way. I found this oil pan adapter that screws on to pan. Its from a 7.3 diesel motor which is a ford motor. I cut a hole in pan and bolted it right on. You could weld it if want. I used a autoloc dipstick and slid it into opening bolted it on and done. Now we can check the proper oil level.
