My pal Dave gave me a copy, this flick is utterly mindblowing.
It's from the mid '70s and all it is is the camera's view from outta the grill of a guy driving a new Ferrari 275 GTB flat fucking out through Paris at the crack of dawn.
The guy blasts through several redlights, almost hits dogs, dump trucks and walls but just keeps going.
The sound of that V12 is pure music.
It's one the mose irresponsible pieces of work I've ever seen, I wish I coulda done it.
In a day of computer graphics and fakery this is the real deal.

Watch it, rent it, whatever, sit around with your car thickie friends, you and they will understand.

  2. We were just enjoying that at the shop a month or so ago..

    Spine tingling good

Spine tingling good is an apt description.

figured "nadaliscious von creemy pie" :D would have seen that post a few months ago...about the same time as "the dance" was posted.

the director is Claude Lelouch, the car is a Ferrari of some line. Though there is a debate as to who drives...(there was a rumor as to a then current F-1 driver).

The top speed appears to be arround 70, but it also could be the relevant elevation of the camera to the ground.

When the film was originally premiered Lelouch was arrested.

and i agree with nads on this one: spine tingling is a good thing!

  9. There was another video I recall that was filmed in Paris, but on a cycle. Turns out there is a club that accepts you on your time from point A to point B. The road is the perimeter highway around Paris, so you have to do one "lap" in under 11 minutes. The video has this guy just caning the shite out of this bike, around trucks and cars. I think it was overdubbed in German, and it looked like he was doing upwards of 150.

I about wet myself watching it, but can't locate it anywhere.

The guys and I wore out a video tape of that when I was in high school :D

I think the car chase scene in Ronin was inspired by this film.

    fun!

this has been brought up here before,
I do believe even the boss man himself posted a link?

  13. It's a classic, needs to be seen on a big screen to get the full effect. Maybe "Dieter" was driving it before he broke his Enzo into little Ferrari bits on PCH??

Yep, this video is a classic...

I've met credible folks that claim to have been involved in the making of that movie. Of course there are all kinds of rumors and fantasy stories made up around the production of it... I believe the video is in real time and from what I understand there are points when speeds crept passed triple digits...

There is one fact that is undeniable to anyone that has ever spent time around vintage Italian cars. The star of that movie is a Ferrari.

Yep. One of the best car movies ever.

A buddy of mine has a copy on 16mm film. The first time I saw it it was projected at a size of about 15ft across and the audio was played through a Fender 212 cab. Needless to say, I've never been the same since.

He got it on ebay a few years ago.

He wouldn't divulge how much he had to pay, but in my opinion it was worth every penny.

That's Ghost Rider. And their is a video of a guy running a 125cc shifter kart around Quebec too.

I'll have to check this thread out at home. Work blocks most all video sites.

I gave up watching it at work uninterrupted - I just play it listening to it on my headphones - like a 9 minute symphony.

You can search Getaway in Stockholm on Google video, basically the same thing except cops get involved but way crappier becuase its new cars, but they go awhole lot faster then the one in paris. But they dont sound as near as nice as that ferrari reving up tho.

The car sounds ok. I guess I'm jaded cause I like the sound of V8's. Now in person things are very different. I heard and watched a 2000ish V12 Ferrari running around the road course at Toronto Motorsport Park (or what even it's called now) about 5 years ago. Sex on wheels I tell ya! There were 2 cars. One stock, one not. Stock was ho hum sounding, the other... WOW!!!!

  27. the quebec in a kart is called Kartvader and available as a download and I have getaway in stockholm (got it free for having theA's engine recorded for a video game as well as 2 hours on a dyno and cash)but havn't even opened the wrapping!!
this paris vid is way cool though

    Weird...

In the last bit of the movie I counted 5 Double Clutch Downshifts, 2Up, and 3 more Down.

Did I loose count or is that a 7 speed?

The streets were a little busier when I was there. This is the road he turns onto about 2:50 into the movie. He enters from the ramp on the right of the picture.

  30. Wasn't this film credited with inspiring the Nissan 300/350 commercial/film?
