I have been running my '31 coupe with two home made fuel injector housing and then I read a few threads about the 4x2 intakes and I have had one hanging on the wall for years so I decided to use it with some old 94's and also go full sequential with a cam sensor. I bought what I could from our Alliance Venders, great to have them with us. I have fired it up but still working on the mount for the alternator and fan. Using the older manifold set the brackets back a little and I decided to run the fan from the back groove on the crankshaft and the alternator from the front groove. By using the front groove the alternator will clear the 8ba water hose and can be tucked up close to the carburetors and not hanging out over the head. That part will not be covered here. I am not that smart so I know there are better ways to do this so overlook my mistakes.

This is what I started with, carbs had been in fires and one bowl had a crack but for what I was doing thay worked okay

I used Offy carb risers and trimmed them to match the intake and car bases
    [IMG]

I machined the carb bases and risers to give me a place to mount the injector bungs
    [IMG]

This shows where I have machined the bottom of the fuel bowl and some of the carb housing, you need all the room you can get in this area
    [IMG]

After cutting the carb base you remove one of the screws that hold the base to the carb bowl (power valve cavity), I drilled and tapped for screws as shown to replace the screw that was removed, the reason I used three is this side of the housing holds the fuel injectors seated in the bungs
    [IMG]

This is where the injector bungs are mounted, be sure and get the bungs as steep of angle as you can, remember the injectors have to have a fuel rail on top also, I think I machined these at 31 or 32 degrees and I would try to fudge a little more if I done it again, the bung holes are not machined in perfect centerline with the carb bores, they are offset just to the center to help everthing fit into the carb bowl[IMG]

I gutted everything out of the carb and machined the metering boss closest to the bowl, plugged all air p***ages and choke shaft holes. I don't know if this step is needed but I closed up the venturies from 15/16" to 3/4". This may or may not help

    Modified venturies

I used aluminum plate to made the tapered venturie washers and this jig

Showing the screws that were added and the new extended throttle shafts for the throttle linkage
    [IMG]

The accelerator was removed but I used the arm, accelerator shaft (shortened) and spring to help as a return spring
    [IMG]

I wanted to hid the throttle position sensor so I used an '85 Buick Regal sensor and mounted it in one of the accelerator bores, the bore was machined to remove the taper in it and a housing was made for the tps to fit in as shown, the orings are just to cushion the sensor from the br*** housing when it is screwed together
    [IMG]

The carb was machined for the tps wires, there are two very small allen set screws to hold the br*** tps housing when it is set for throttle off voltage, there is also a screw through the bottom of the accelerator bore to raise or lower the tps for adjustment from the outside also using the accelerator arm to move the tps, I filled the accelerator linkage hole closest to the shaft and drilled a hole about a 1/16" closer to the shaft
    [IMG]

Showing it with linkage hooked up and set screws showing

Fuel rail for the injector tops, I bought extruded rail, cut and machined to length, the ends are plugged with br*** plugs and the inlet tubing is silver soldered to the br*** fitting that screws into the fuel rail notice the curve to the inlet tube, a later picture will show why
    [IMG]

You can see how the rails are contured to fit inside the fuel bowl
    [IMG]

Starting the ***embly, injectors were bought from GMC Bubba (good folk) the black tube is for the pcv and hooked up so all cylinders use it
    [IMG]

Injector terminals installed and the inlet tube was screwed in with thread sealer and used JB Weld to help stabalize and support the tube

I can't see how restricting air flow will help.We have discused 3 x2 manifold vs 4 x2 set up air demans in the past.Otherwise what your doing is very nice.( well beyond very nice in my eyes) When I ran my 4 x2 set up I thought 97s ran better than 81s.Felt choked for air with 81s up top.

Thanks Flatdog point well taken, the washers are removable if needed.

vergil, will you be at Famoso this weekend, love to see that up close, many questions. I'd say your "smartness", is quite satifactory! Have you been to the Mega Squirt site. It's a DIY site, and appears they are very user friendly.
I've got a 354 with 4x2 set up, and this interest me.
    Thanks, OLY

Since the original thread is almost ten years old I believe they got lost in one of the crashes or revamps.
I see that Vergil still shows up on a regular basis though so he might spot the thread.
