I've recently lost a friend and have been helping his 15 yr. old son with the project he and his dad have started. I posted in the cl***ifieds and have got a tremendous response. I can't believe how generous people are. Check out my post: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB3&Number=261591&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 If there is anything you've got that you'd give us a deal on, let me know. Thanks again guys, you're great.
we had a couple of local guys, one who's a professional rod builder, volunteer to do the body work and rebuild the ****** yesterday.
I have totally missed all of this - I feel like a total s*** bag. Is there anything I can do to help? I want to see pictures of this kid driving his car soon. What can we do???? And talk about cool helping the kid like you are... That's awesome...
Wayfarer - You shamed me in to posting an intro - did you get the e-mail with the tracking number? Dan
Sure did, Mutt. Thanks alot for the air cleaner. Ryan, just providing a forum for all of these generous people has been enough. Everyone has been so generous on the board. Thanks again.
thats a hell of a thing your doing for that kid man. just what he needs right now i'm sure. i had read your list of needed parts and unfortunately i did'nt have anything he would need, but i wanted to tell you what a great service i thought you were doing the boy. he's lucky to have a friend like you and in light of the lose you both suffered your lucky to have each other.
Way, we are begining to thaw out here finally the package will be set out as soon as I can drive without worry about some goomba sliding into me. Like was stated before you are a cl*** act and God Bless you man. Ryan he is right you allow us to reach out to those in need a lot easier and more economical then we could any other way. A big THANK YOU to you...Danny
Thanks Danny. It's no big deal, I was going to help them with it anyway. And Ryan, thanks again for offering us this forum and thanks to all the HAMBrs
Wayfarer, I missed this as well. Can you kinda review the project. Sounds cool. If ya get the car done before August 6th and 7th. bring him over to the HOTROD-A-RAMA. I'll make sure he gets a good spot and some inspirational recognition. Better yet! I'll give you both free entry into the big show. The least I can do for you doing a cool gesture. Pay it forward hottrodder!(you just have to remind me closer to the event. It'll give the lil feller something to shoot for!
Will he have his license by then? I just realized his age after I posted. In any event, get him over here for some down home hotrod inspiration!
Jeff, let me know if there is anything I can help with. Sounds like the bodywork is handled, but I'd be more than happy to lend a hand, tools, whatever I can do.
His project is a big block powered '47 chevy coupe. Where is the hot rod a rama? He won't be 16 until Sept. but he can drive with his permit if someone is with him. Tinbender, thanks. Some guys offered to do the body work, but our concern is that they say that now, but that they'll get busy and not follow up.
Sounds fun. We'll make it if we can. I am taking him to the Porland Swap Meet this spring though, maybe I'll catch up with some of you guys there.
Dan (Mutt), I got the air cleaner today. It looks great and he's going to love it! I'll find a filter that fits and some hold down nuts. I'll post a pic as soon as we get the engine together. Thanks again.
I helped Emilio (that's the kid's name) on his ch***is today and gave him the stuff you guys sent that I've gotten. He was so appreciative and he said he was going to join the HAMB tonight. I guess it's time for you guys to meet the kid you helped.
This is Emilio's brother (and wayfarer's best friend). My brother has been telling me all about this forum and the parts people are sending to help him out, so I decided I would check it out. I am overwhelmed at the tremendous generosity and support you all have showed for my brother. Our dad help me build my '37 Chevy Pickup when I was in high school and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Street rods have always been a huge part of our lives and I know the bond I had with my dad would not have been as strong if it was for the countless hours we spent in the garage together.Growing up my brother always taunted my that one day his car would blow the doors off of my truck and my dad was doing everything possible to help him achieve that goal. One of the first things I did after our dad p***ed away was promise my brother we would get his car done. Thank you to everybody who has volunteered parts, labor, etc. Because of people like you and wayfarer and all of our other street rodding friends, my brother is going to have one sweet ride and I know my dad will look down on us and be overjoyed when my brother blows the doors off of my truck! Thanks again!
Has anyone donated a set of vlave covers yet? If not, give me an addy on where to send em. I have an extra set of finned Ansens for a big block... Spike
Welcome salcheeza! Sorry to hear of your loss. Hope the project helps you and Emilio through it. And all the best to you, Wayfarer.
Welcome Scott. Here's the big salcheeza's truck: Hot rod photos, a HAMBr already sold me a set of finned valve covers for his car. Thanks for the offer though.
