I am bringing my grandson out. He just started on a 27 RP on a deuce frame. We are staying at the Ayres in Chino hills. I stayed there when I went to the LARS a few years ago. Nice place, a little pricey.
Is there anything going on the week of the show?

This is the first year in a long time that I won't be able to make it. We usually stay at the Motel 6 in San Dimas every year. Its cheap and not too far from the Fairplex. The Early Ford Store usually has an open house on Friday morning before the show. Lucky's Speed Shop is hosting an open house/Hop Up magazine party on Friday night in Burbank. Walden Speed Shop had an open house last year, but I'm not sure if they're doing that again this year. If you can, make sure you hit the show on Friday as well as Saturday. Friday there is hardly anybody there and you can see the cars easier, but it is only open half the day on Friday. Have fun!

Claremont, San Dimas, and Ontario Mills area have great hotels. Also, some good restaurants in downtown Claremont (Hero's Bar Grill, Walters, The Back Abbey burgers and others), downtown La Verne (Warehouse pizza, Chase's and lots of others) and the Mills area (lots of eats). For the women folk, shopping at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cuca****a, The Mills in Ontario (largest mall west of the Mississippi, lots of theaters), and Montclair Plaza in Montclair.

This year GNRS coincides with NAMM (National ***ociation of Music Merchants). In the musical instrument and entertainment business, NAMM is as big as any car show. This is the biggie, and there is a huge amount of activity going on around the show this weekend. Saturday night I'm hosting, and playing at, a NAMM Jam with some of the biggest names in the blues genre coming out. These things turn into very cool jam sessions. My plans right now are to head out bright and early Saturday morning up to Pomona and walk the show as quick as I can, get as many pictures as I can, and then haul *** home to get ready and head over to the gig, which starts at 5. It will be a full day. I won't be getting up and heading back to GNRS on Sunday. I will try to make it out on Friday though, should be a good chance to get some pics with a lot fewer spectators. And I'm gonna try to make it out to some of the open houses too. Is there a list of open houses anywhere here on the HAMB?
