Morning, looking at converting the original clutch pedal in my 56 Fairlane to an hydraulic unit. Has any knowledgeable person performed such wizardry on there similar model & if so how? Thanks in advance Wayne
Way back in the archives here there has been guys that did a SBF and T-5 swap they adapted fox body Mustang units, this may help give you an idea what is involved:
I used a 3/4" Wilwood master and 7/8" Speedway slave on my '59 also an AFCO stock car hose. Pedal pin is in the stock hole. I made up a plate to mount the brake and clutch master also a plate on the bellhousing to locate the slave. It works nicely.
Bob, just going thru these 2 pics, a couple of questions! Is there an original mounting point on the firewall for the clutch or did you mount the master there & fabricate the reinforcement for the cylinder? Looks like a nice clean conversion! Cheers Wayne
Both masters are on a common 1/4" steel plate. Aluminum won't work, too much flex. The clutch master is in the stock clutch arm hole, but moved outboard to the other side of the arm. Took a little trial and error.
Modern Drive Line is making a kit for a 55/56 ford conversion......I'll let you know how it works when I get it installed .....Hopefully by May
