OK, I found this car online and the price made it sound too good to be true. I emailed the seller asking why the car was so cheap and this is what I got back: Hello, The offer still stands. I am selling the car due to my moving overseas to Athens, Greece. In order not to make this a fuss from your part I am willing to pay for shipping to your location and I will also give you time to inspect the car before you decide whether to make the purchase or not. But I am sure that if you're a serious buyer you'll have no reason not to buy - this is a car in very good condition, no scratches or any kind of accidents, clear title. I will offer 15 days for inspection. A convenient shipping career is http://www.europe-car-delivery.com/ who will not only ship the car but will also offer the money exchange solution: I take the car to their office for packaging and inspection, they confirm and give you details, you wire the money to them, they bring the car to you and you inspect it yourself and decide, and finally, they pay me. If you reject the car they refund you 100% in 48hours. Well , that's about it concerning how this will move. I got married 2 weeks ago and moved with my wife who lives here. This is a beautiful car which I like so much that I took it with me thinking there will be no problems driving it here but I was amazed when I saw the registration taxes and customs charges...they're enormous because the car is from USA. So I have no alternative but to sell it since I can only keep it here for 2 more months. Let me know if you're still interested. Regards, Craig What do you think? I know a lot of you have dealt with scams so I was just wondering if anyone has seen something like this. The car is not a hot rod, it is a $6000 2004 VW R32...better than my GTI! If this is a scam, I hope this post gets some people out of losing a bunch of money. Adam
I wouldn't trust it. The old saying "If it's to good to be true, then it's probably to good to be true" comes to mind.
Too good to be true, the asshole took the ad off the internet. I knew it, just wanted to bring this to your attention if you weren't already aware of this particular scam. Adam
I just glanced a the paragraph and I'm 99% sure it's a scam. All those asshole's go to the same creative writing school.
http://j-walk.com/other/conf/ He's going to sell a good car, for a fraction of it's value, AND give you free shipping ? NOT FUCKING LIKELY ! The idea is to collect deposits from as many people as possible, then disappear with the money.
Got the same email about three weeks ago just a diferent car. Run and don't look back. P.S. Don't reply to email they love getting your address.
Ask him if you can pay with a cashier's check for $3,000 over the amount of the car and get the difference back in cash in US currency, wired to you through Western Union or something like that. (it does make me wonder what happens when say, the scammer in greece, gets scammed by the other scammer in say, Nigeria....) Him paying the shipping is probably the biggest tip-off - it makes it harder for the guy who falls for this to prove anything because he has nothing whatsoever to try to track when or if the car was shipped. Plus the fact that it's not cheap to ship a car overseas - if he puts it in a container by itself, I wouldn't be surprised if it cost at least half of the $6,000 price I saw someone mention. Even if the car's price was bluebook for a low-milage example less what the duty on that might be, I'd still be suspicious.

Big time scamola. Every time one of those Nigerian asshats writes that the car has "No scratches" it's a dead giveaway.
There was a Camaro on e-bay that almost got me. Luckily e-bay figured it out and stopped it. They wanted confirmed bidders only,I guess to get your email etc info. The price was too good to be true..
Psssh...they prey on people like us who are always looking for that great deal. Losers(them, not us!) Adam
You're slightly off on this one. You need money for GAS if you have a car. It's "Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope." (Freewheelin' Franklin from the Fabulous Furry Freak Bros. comix). ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver" I checked today and... this is the oldest I've ever been.
Is anyone over the age of post puberty gullible enough to bite on one of these???????????????????????
Maybe I'm a fuckin idiot...that car is now in my driveway as we speak!! I hate these fuckin foreign cars so I wanna sell it ASAP. I'll take $9750.00 for it and ship it to you for free except the gas cost. I think I'm in the mood for a trip to CA. If that sounds like a good deal for you then just send me a 25% deposit and I'll head your way with it. It'll be fully insured and inspected. Right now it has no scratches on it. The only hold may be a slightly extended waiting period as my hunchbacked uncle is straightening out and I can't leave until he does. I hope that's not a problem for you. Thanx again for your interest... AND THE INTEREST I MAKE ON YOUR $$$!!!
If you're selling a big ticket item (like a car) over the internet, ALWAYS insist on an escrow transaction through a reputable 3rd party escrow company. Period. I've used escrow.com a couple of times for international car transactions, with no problems. Cheap insurance against fraud, and peace of mind for both seller and buyer.
shit, don't even answer an E-mail on that one!!! Too much like the e-bay scams I've seen a couple buddies loose their shirts on!! STAY AWAY!!!
I just do cars now and have some money left for gas ...heck spent $280.00 on gas this week. ITS GOOD TO SIT AT THIS MACHINE FOR A WHILE...
I think it sounds like a good deal. I also scored on 2 acres in norcal for 500.00 in an add I found on a telephone pole. Anybody want to be my neighbor?
Yeah me too. I'm thinking here lately that I got mis-directed somewhere. LOL! Put FIFTY-TWO bucks in the ZX the other day! Glad I don't drive every day & that will last me awhile. Funny "tha Driver" dosen't drive much anymore. Hope to change that soon (& maybe even get in some track time or solo racing). ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver" You just shot an unarmed man! "Well, he should have armed himself."
