I have try to send email and call to MEC (Model engineering Co, Akron Ohio. Need their master cylinder brackets etc (1932), but can´t buy because no contact. Anybody can tell me is that Company closed, bankruptcy.....or sold their production somewhere else? Please, answer this mail or send PM if You have any info concern that Company or their products. aulis
Gene there is a great guy and I have enjoyed purchasing and using his products. My most recent purchase was about a year ago. Post the phone no you are using and I will compare it to what I have. Maybe he's on vacation? I hope so vs closing/shutting down.
Hopefully someone close enough to stop by. That’s about 1 hr from me now.....since I’ve moved. Keep me posted.
Not in answer to your question but here is a photo of the master cylinder bracket I made for my AVATAR. I started by bolting a piece of steel to the K member using existing holes. Next I welded a piece of square structural steel on and went from there. I moved the battery to the passenger side. The '39-'48 master cylinder fills through the old battery cover plate in the floor. Looks good. Maybe I make something like that to my 5w coupe Project. Now a days Lasercutting is so easy way to make parts ready for welding.
Any information ? I have try to send them E-mail few times during this year, but no contact. Do You have any better information, if they has sold their moulds ? or if they still are in business? I have list stuff what Im ready to ordet them / new operatro Aulis auliz@kotinet.com
I spoke to Gene several months ago. Took several tries to get him on the phone but he said he was still in business. His web site has never been very good and he has in the past failed to keep the hosting up to date. My guess is that is why some think the business had folded since the site is down.
Can you clarify if MEC is still a viable business? Current contact information that gets easy results would be appreciated by many here. I realize this is a sideline to his regular business endeavor but why would he even suggest MEC is still around if he won’t respond to inquiries? In particular I’d like information on the steering column that was listed on the website.
Yes, I was try to call twice a month, but no answer. Can You tell me what tel.number he answer? I send him money, but maybe they have sold out all parts and nothing to sell? Aulis
I just saw an ad for them on Feb Hemmings and thought that was interesting. Maybe it’s on auto pilot for X months?
I just called them up, at the phone number listed above. 330-644-3450 330-644-0088 fax They answered the phone.
The bracket and bell crank shown by @Charlie Stephens is a better arrangement than the MEC bracket. It allows the use of a stock '32 pedal and has a better pedal ratio than having the low mounted master cylinder with the MEC bracket. There are other ways to achieve this, but having a bell crank allows the pedal ratio to be in the proper range. (Should be about 6 : 1 )
