How do you have your interior set up to gain access to the underfloor Mastercylinder ? I built an access panel on the floor (screwed down) and when I did my Dynamat, I cut around the panel so it will still remove but now that carpet is going on. How do I do it. (lift the carpet??? but that will mean removing the sill plates when I want to gain access) I can not see cutting the carpet to make a access flap

SO for those of you in the Interior business or have carpet in your hotrod with an underfloor MC, how have you done it??

The industry quit putting them under the floor before they started putting the carpet under the sill plate.
Put a "patch pocket" on the carpet with velcro or a sleeping bag heft zipper. Then put matching carpeted floor mats on top of that and drive it.

I have a access panel also........even on the Roadster ( same as the 3W ) . but I usually look from underneath..... This week I did a brake job on the Roadster ... ( 52,000 miles :) ) and I just looked at the fluid level and added from the bottom when I re-bled the brakes.....

My carpet tucks under a moulding on the side, and ends at the front edge of the seat. You can untuck it and flip it forward enough to check and add fluid. Removing the kick panel helps but isn't required.

  5. I have a stainless steel door that has it's own frame. Got it from Rock Valley I think. The frame is screwed down over the carpet. My interuior guy made me matching floor mats and they cover the door. Picture shows the door before installation.

I used Master Power Brakes remot fill. Save a lot of trouble and put it anywhere almost.

  8. I mounted my MC bracket 1/2" lower so that I could remove the lid from under the car. For the amount of time Im gonna be "checkin" the MC I can deal with the incovenience of filling it from underneath instead of having to mod the floor/carpet etc.

How do I fill the MC? I have a tomato sauce (ketchup for u guys) bottle with a length of plastic hose I use to "squeeze" the brake fluid into the MC to top it up/bleed brakes.

    Easy....

  9. Once the fluid level is full and the brakes are blead, how often do you anticipate messing with it? A mirror and a flash light is a lot quicker than pulling the sill plates and carpat. Just my $.02

Looks like it what I thought, pull up the carpet if it needs fluid. THe floor mat idea is one I had not thought about.

Another vote for the remote filler. I just finished this on my shoebox. Replaced the M/C for a dual M/C with caps that have hose fittings. Ran the hoses up to a discreet location on the firewall where the fill canister is mounted. Really simple.

you could also consider pulling up the carpet from the middle instead of the sill plate, have your carpet guy cover the hump with one piece, then the floor section with another, with a bound edge. you can velcro down the bound edge, and it will be a snap to pull it up to check.

I haven't done mine yet but got a wall service door for accessing plumbing valves you see them a lot in restrooms. Mine is StainlessSteel. I have thought about drilling and tapping the side of the M/C and threading in a fitting for a remote seems like it would work, may over flow if you need to open the top one every couple of years???? I like the remote fill but what ever you decide, make it easy to access the MC. You don't want to fill it and forget about it until one day you foot goes to the floor. Brake fluid level should be checked frequently. You don't want any surprises especially if your family is in the car.

  16. Where is a good place to "hide" the reservoir where it isn't a pain in the ass to get to?

I keep a 100cc vet syringe with a length of clear tube and fill from underneath. Just keep it in a baggy so it stays clean.
