Moepower and I have a friend named Mouse...this is his new project. A '36 Nash Lafayette. His dad has had it in storage for years...time to get 'er running. Look close at the engine pic...it's got A steel plate screwed TO THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK TO REPAIR A LARGE CRACK...
I love it! Just another example of a time long gone when everything was NOT DISPOSABLE . They actualy REPAIRED stuff and used there imagination and ingenuity. Today they say ..."its broke...throw it away" Brett
I love it. I always like to see cars from the extinct brands brought back to life. Post better pics when you get it home. I can't remember what the front of one is supposed to look like.
Lafayette's are cool. I will always have a soft spot for the cheapest car in any manufacturer's lineup. Particularly when equipped with the largest, most powerful engine from said manufacturer.
I never realised they were bottom of the line, my mate had a 34 coupe, and I always figured they were a little higher spec, bigger and flasher then a 34 Ford.
I think they're more comparable to a bottom-of-the-line Olds or Pontiac rather than a Ford. Ford, Chevy and Plymouth were pretty much the standard for dirt cheap transportation in those days (particularly Ford) and pretty much anything else was a step up.
