Ok this one is for the FE Ford guys, you 352,390,427 and 428 dudes... This may win the contest for overall "killer" looks . It looks so cool in one of these engines they dont need to run fast , they just look fast. Mallory YL dual point with flat crab (marine style) distributor cap..Good vintage choice for the FE engines , unit uses chrysler style advance weights, is very adjustable and has dual points..... Just imagine a 63 Galaxie with medium riser cross bolt 427, two fours, solid lifter camshaft and a set of honest charlie cheater slicks !!!! Anyone that old on here ???? Enjoy......
That is definitely cool looking! Especially as it would be one of the first things your eyes are greeted by when you open the hood of an FE powered car.
My FE with the Mallory 2piece cap that I love for the look. Mine has been converted to Chrysler electronic ign. Will the flat cap fit the 2 piece cap dist.? does it take the same rotor? I love the 2 piece cap but the flat cap is cool looking too. ( I don't know the Mallory codes) Do you sell the flat cap and rotor if necessary?
Bubba, if that one is goin to jersey its probably mine! Just talked to you alittle while ago...looks killer! Ps its goin in 64 gal/427/toploader/pie crust cheaters
Hi, Bubba... I'm building a 406, for my '54 Coupe. That is one pretty distributor. I have a Mallory YL, no tach drive, but crab cap. Also have some old '42 flathead crab caps: There is a diameter difference between Mallory and Ford caps, although they look identical. Do you have the clips for the Mallory crabs?
Should have the clips for the Mallory crab caps etc. The key is the rotor as its the same as the flathead as well. Thats how i tell one from the other....
Nope the rotor and cap is very different, as they set a bunch lower. Just a side note NAPA does make a regular upright cap for the replacement of the two piece cap. Although i really like the two piece unit as well...
That looks great! The only thing it needs is a "Trash Can" condenser! The one that's on it is kinda puny lookin'.
Jack, for the series of distributors we are discussing here, I think this is the "two-piece" cap we're talking about. I really like these and wish you could still get them at a reasonable price; I have seen NOS 8 cylinder caps going for $200.
