I was thinking of running RADIR spindle mount rims up front on my 29A. I heard they can crack if ran on the street. Anyone have any experience with them? Also, where can i get some whitewall bias-ply slicks like these? And if anyone has any other pics of this car, please post them...
the tire on that car are radir nostalgia slicks. the web address is (radirwheels.com). i think they are actually made by mickey thompson. i would send you some more pictures of the car, but I don't know how to reduce the size of the pictures so that they will upload.
Host them at cardomain.com. It will resize them when you upload them and you can post them from there.
I have talked to the Hurst guys on the phone and they seem like really nice people. They will also put a dirt track tread on a cheater if the slick will get you into trouble where you live (like here in NH) Another option is Firestone cheaters. They don't look quite as good but they are D.O.T. approved.
Hey Guys, you should have no worrys running our 12 spoke spindle mount wheels, We just had a customer drive from upstate NY to Florida and back with them and everything went great, They are super strong! The Old Magnesium 12 spokes, those i would worry about they must be getting pretty brittle these days. Our new 12 spoke wheels are 1 piece heat treated aluminum and accept disk brakes if you ever want to run brakes up front. The tires in those pictures, (cool ride btw) are our 10.00x15" MT/Radir dragster slicks these are the only game in town if you want that exact look and in a all new tire with a 1 piece constuction and 4 ply sidewalls. If you have any other questions we will be more then happy to help you out. thanks, Jason
Thanks Jason. Does that mean you will replace them if they do crack from street use? Id hate to spend my hard earned 900 smackers on some kickass front rims just to have them cracks later on down the road.
Hey Jason, Seems like the Radir website hasn't been updated in a while. Are the prices listed still current?
We stand behind them 100% you should have no problems with them, when we made the molds we were expecting guys bounching them down the track and putting them on full bodied cars as well. If you see them in person you will see how strong they are. Do you guys have any other questions? thanks, Jason www.Radirwheels.com
I have a set of Radirs and cheaters, they are great tires. Jason is the only source besides Firestone for real bias cheater slicks. the others are recapped radials, AFAIK, someone can correct me if I'm wrong. The wheels are the best quality wheels I have ever seen, as good as the original Hurst wheels. Have you priced a set of them recently?
Do you have any plans to make the 15" American twelve spokes? I have a set of magnesium ones, but I would like to see a perfect copy in aluminum.
might try performance machine ...(yeah the bike parts guys) ....i heard they owned the molds to the americans....and used to cast them in aluminum .....but then again ....i heard jesse james ended up with the molds too .....might be worth a shot......brandon
nice- that was one of my favorites. You probably noticed yourself, but it was the only 28/29 coupe I saw there!
Dunno how that rumor started but its wrong... the old ones were just sandcast. Performance machine at one time did a 12 spoke variant however.
