Just wondering on these. It is a '57 that the seller is looking at $700 for it. It had a little rust and everything works. Anyone know about these at all? I think they are very Deco looking and would make a nice ride or shop truck to hull stuff in. KNUX!
they were used for like milk delivery and all other shit... here's a '54.. http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/itch_vargas/2004/may/divco_5_6_04_001.jpg annnnd a '57 http://www.hemmings.com/images/dealers/golden/hires/57divco1.jpg I would buy one of these in a heartbeat..
I would love to find one that runs as I would love to freak people out by driving with the doors open and standing up. Jeff
If it has the elusive 18" wheels on it, THEY would bring more than $700 Sounds like a great price, regardless.
here is one for sale about 10 miles from my house.. http://mb.forsaleforrent.com/classifieds/CPViewItem.asp?ID=81400
DAMAGE CONTROL: I knew this was coming. Check facts on old threads about this. The wheels you speak of were never original equipment on Divco trucks. Think Kleenex, Xerox, etc.
If "smog central" is Cali, then buy it and re-sell parts to yahoos out there that pay crazy coin for parts. If you were in the mid-west I would say around a buck fifty for the complete car.
I was working in SanJose in 95 and Cloverdale Farms Dairy was selling 10 of them for $900 each. When I got up there,he had three left and wouldn't sell them.I offered him $4500,and he still said no! All I could think of was the Hotwheel,chopped,slammed,etc..
My Divco I has not touched in a long while, it happens to be my wifes favorite project that I have started...It is a 1949 Model UMB, one of like 103 or so of this Model made that year and made in Kanada..so cutting it was all my pleasure.................I graffed a 55 Chevy passenger car front end, put a 9'' posi out back with disc brakes and a posi, and a pair of Radir 10'' slicks, I channelled the whole thing over its frame.............And installed a 1965 Chevy 409 for some torque....This is the 100'' short wheelbase Divco, and does not have the exposed rivited panels on it............Littleman..They make killer shop trucks for any line of work...
That is SWEET littleman. I love it. Is that the original writting on the sides? Damnit! Now I want one...
Yes its all original. It started life as a milk truck, then converted into an ice cream truck and is from my local area...Littleman
Thats great. You couldn't ask for better patina. "Big Daddy's Frozen Treats" Thats priceless. My buddy works for a guy who has one that was his Grandfathers. It was an icecream truck too. It is just sitting out back of his garage and could most likely be bought if anyone wants me to check into it for them.
Geez Kev, the first word in the post is "IF" And the fact is in one of those past posts YOU refer to them as "Divco type" wheels. Don't be so quick to correct your elders, son. I got my facts straight.
There is a guy my dad knows who has a whole collection of standup milk/delivery trucks in York. They are wicked cool and are for sure a thing of the past. Most people don't even remember home delivery for milk!!!!
Yea, We had milk delivery when I was a kid. In a DIVCO too! Borden's milk, white and yellow with black fenders and wheels. Elsie the cow rules! I may use an old milk box for a battery box in my coupe. We had bread delivered too by the Omar Bread company. They didn't have Divcos tho, but they had this great coffee cake, oh man I'd about forgotten that!
I know where a Divco is sitting out in the desert, it's on private property and someday will be available but right now the 'ol man died and the whole family is fighting over the property and everything on it. I made them a standing offer for it when the smoke finally clears. I think it will make a cool high school cruiser for my 3 year old grandson when he gets gets old enough. ( it will probably take that long to get it and make it a runner)
