Strongly suggest you checkout the P15-D24 Forum, those guys know their stuff.......I think the Dakota rear ends have been suggested a few times but I'm sure you'll get the right info there........if you were here in Oz I'd suggest any late model , from 1990 Oz Ford Falcon wagon rear end as that's what I bolted into my 1940 Dodge but in Canada or Nth America in general that won't help you......lol.......check out the forum, great info and helpful.....Andy Douglas
Jeep Cherokee and Ford Explorer are two of several that are correct width and retain the same wheel bolt pattern. The Cherokee unit is better from about ‘90/‘91 up to 2000 (end of prod.) as they switched from Dana 35 to MOPAR Corporate 8.25” in that period. They also have generous sized drum brakes and a nice e-brake system with long cables and bracket. You will have to relocate the spring pads on both Jeep and Explorer axles, but that is common with many others as well. Explorer is a 8.8” unit and very strong but may be overkill for your purposes....also heavier than the MOPAR assembly. Most Explorers have disc brakes on rear. There are many others that could work, but typically are from the ‘60s and ‘70s, and harder to find these days. Ray
Yes, post 64 to 70 B body (Charger, Coronet, Belevidere, Satellite, Road Runner) . After 1970 the B body rear end got wider. The early C body (Chrysler, Monoco) rear ends are also too wide. An A body (Dart, Valiant, Duster) are about the right width, but have a smaller bolt pattern for the wheels. Gene
