    Hi everyone,

I am refinishing this fender and currently wetsanding to prep for reclearing. It’s been taking a long time even with 600 grit! Will these tiny freckles in the clear coat be shown after reclearing? Pic for reference:

wiping the surface with wax and grease remover will mimic the look of the clear.

question, are you going thru the whole paint process on that panel,, sealer, paint, blender, then clear ? and what clear are you using, 4/1 or 2/1

if only clearing as a flow coat:
as to those spots, a used grey scuff pad, and don't put much pressure, to dig, only to scuff, don't use a red, it will show scratch marks

I will be touching up the bad spot and reclearing the whole fender. It’s a 4 : 1 clear.

I would just prep it for paint and shoot the whole panel and then clear it.

not an ideal plan if you want the color/metallic to match. it looks like a repair to me. blend the color and [ blend the clear*] or clear the whole panel.
    *experience required;)

A good deal of information for someone trying to figure out how to do it the right way!!!
Painting really has changed a lot over the years. Now it is more complicated that ever.

Yeah, the panel was already painted 5 months ago so I was hoping it wasn’t necessary to repaint

Did not know your skill level or how long the paint had been on. Do it the way you feel most comfortable with.

Long story short.....if you see flaws now plan on seeing them in the clear.
