Holy shit, that chopped '40 Tudor looks like it was cool! Same with the pinkish Merc, that one looks like an 80's job but you can tell it was really finished out nicely at one time. Looks like someone had some really nice cars that they left sit outside to get moss and shit all over them, that's a shame they weren't stored better, same for that Firepower hemi engine, I wonder if that was outside?!

Please report back as to how much the interesting cars brought, and some of that speed equipment. If nobody shows up for this auction, there could be some incredible bargains, there's some really great shit there.

I wonder what the story was? Why was all that stuff outside? Crazy.

I was not able to go do to an unforeseen problem at a friends house (some lights went out and his widow panicked). A close friend of mine went and bought 3 cars and some parts.
He said there were many good deals and it was a shame that some of the cars had been so neglected!
This was a sale to settle the estate of a fellow who passed away over a year ago.

That 40 was really cool. Some good deals for sure. I like the bmx bike thrown in the mix. Looks like a dirt brothers, Gary young frame from the late 90s. Oh yea hot rods and bmx!!!!

There are 2 threads on the Thomas Robison passing and estate auction and respecting him I have posted this which includes a link to his memorial and it also includes a video with his life and also enjoying the automotive end of it...

He was definitely a car guy it is evident in the memorial video with him enjoying the hobby with the cars in better times...see link below....

From those pictures, he seemed like a guy who built some pretty nice shit, and he died a year and a half ago. Add some time of maybe he was sick, and it's possible he was driving those cars when they got parked and they gained that mold and dirt over the couple years they sat outside.

I'd like to know more about this guy, and also where his cars went to.

the guy that built the 39 posted on this thread, check it out. here:

another guy posted that he had been driving by there for over 20 years and cars were outside. I bet there wasn't much left of the bottoms of those cars, hence the cheap prices....

Honestly there was just a handful of cars there that I personally would of thought about taking home alot of them needed serious work. It was like he left the windows down in every vehicle and the interior was just wet and nasty. It's a shame because there was alot of cool cars there. I got lucky and the 37 slantback was stored inside not outside so it's a clean car

I am surprised that knowone here has chimed in knowing the fellow.

I really think he got some bad news and began to give up on things in a form of depression. Sad but understandable. When life is good its awesome...when its bad things can be not so.

It is good that this stuff was offered to be salvaged if possible before the other option is enacted. Good on you all that come out with stuff and there were really cool items to be had.

It was cool to see that 39/40 sedan evolve into a great thread here.

Hey all keep us up on your resurrections of your purchases...;)

  28. man that green sedan is awesome!!!!

I just saw this thread today and had to take a walk outside for an hour, as it saddens me to hear that Tom has passed.

I lived down the street from him for about 15 years. We had talked here and there, but I moved out of the area about 4-5 years ago and had been meaning of stopping by to say "Hi" over the last couple of years, but didn't. (and now wish I had)

I have been interested in his modified 39/40 for 20+/- years. I hinted a couple of times, that if he decided to sell her, please let me know!!! Once after his house caught fire, I stopped by to see what the heck happened and he and I walk around a little bit chit chatting and looking at the damage. After words I couldn't help but gravitate to the Ford. Without being forceful, I tried to let him know I WANTED that car and he told be about the Flathead, the Zephyr fenders, the Choptop and some other details that I won't "bore" you with. ;) He just didn't want to sell her and I didn't push.

I remember bumping into him at Kroger one night and he was excited that he had just purchased that Red Merc. It has been a while, but if I recall I think he said he paid $16,000+/- for it. (I think he even mentioned it was more then he wanted to pay, but loved it) I can't recall if he showed my the Hemmings ad or a pic, but if someone got it for $6500, WOW !!! I know he had it cover up outside the first couple of years.

He did/does have a son that lived fairly close (whom I was told had some cars as well), so I'm surprised these cars were up for auction. Then again, he still had his 32 in the garage and another couple of "special cars" in his house garage, as well as a couple fairly nice T Birds, so maybe his son took those and just had to throw the towel in on the others.

Since that car is semi-sentimental to me, PLEASE anyone with information on it, PLEASE PLEASE contact me !!!
It is one of the top 3 cars I have ever wanted. I don't care if the entire floor is gone, I'll repair it.

    Thanks
    Brent
