I have a question. I have a 56 Dodge that im going to part out since i cant sell it. It has a good 270 poly in it. Am i correct that the block and crank are the same for a Hemi? Can i use anything else from it.?

And if i want to build a hemi where can i find the parts to do so.?

Also i am guessing they make an adapter to more modern trans?

    Thanks for any help

Rumblon, unless I'm mistaken I believe that has the same belhousing pattern as the 273, 318,340,360

To answer your original question, the 270 Poly and Hemi have identical blocks and crankshafts. I believe the rods are the same as well. The pistons are different.

My suggestion would be to save everything that is not absolute s****; Polys are becoming more popular as time p***es.

Would you include 60s poly engines as well like tge 318 wide block, or just the early polys?

Where is a good source to buy parts to build a Hemi from this poly engine?

The early 'poly' head design is where the A engine head came from and is an excellent design in its own right.
For conversion you will need: heads, head bolts, rocker ***emblies, pushrods, plug tubes, pistons, exhaust manifolds, and valve covers.
Parts, including forged pistons, are readily available.

As for transmission adapters, remember that the block pattern is the same as the A engine up to 1962. Adapters are readily available from multiple sources.
