Bellflower tips...( be Honest )

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 60LongRoof, Apr 27, 2006.

  1. You asked: I don't like 'em. I don't care if you tilt them up or down, I don't like 'em. They fall into the same catagory as fake spotlights, hell, even real spotlights suck, IMHO...
I really like the look of your wagon. Very nice. Less is better. the car has a great, clean look right now. I'd hate to se ya garbage it up with anything that draws the eye away from the natural good looks of your car's body...

Here is how the Bellflowers rest on my '60 Chevy Wagon.....

On yours, in my useless opinion, i think you've got the angle and depth/level a bit off (doesnt flow with the body.)

I went to a professional shop to have mine put in and I love the results. If I had done them myself they would have been no were near as straight but I still would have loved the results.

Point is... Period correct doesn't neccessarily mean PERFECT and CORRECT. Enjoy what you have and take pride in the work you can do.

THERE you go! Like I said, as long as YOU like them It's still a nice car. Like DrJ mentioned, you would have to do some modification to the quarters, and as it sits, it looks good from the side, and they are EVEN.

In the end, who cares what we think! It's your car.

Are any of you guys running brackets/hangers to support these big ol' bazooka pipes? they're humongous and relatively heavy [for pipes]. can they just be supported by the rest of the exhaust system? cars go up and down and side to side on the road, so i figured it can't be good to just leave those pipes unattached from the body/frame. wouldn't this cause massive vibration = issues? maybe im just being paranoid, 'cuz a billion local exhaust shops shot me down when i brought my 60 olds and bellflowers in...

They don't look right to me, but maybe that's because your car isn't sitting nearly as low as most cars I've seen with them.

Drop that bitch and see how that changes the look.

    NO LAKEPIPES.

I think all you need, is to be lower to the ground. That makes the pipes look funny to me, too much air between them and the pavement!

  11. Your car needs to be a bit lower. Otherwise I agree with the good DrJ.

Of course, IF you lower the car more, plan on buying replacement tips because you'll flatten them on driveways.

Me, I like them. I think that's how they would look if you had bought them from Gene's Muffler on Lakewood Blvd. in BELLFLOWER in '65.

PS, Gene's if the originator of the Bellflower tips, which we called driveshafts back then.

They are welded up pretty good.Double Brackets close to The Exit of The wheel well...They are surprisingly strong for something of that Span...
I'm gonna try and get the ass a Bit Lower ...I uped a tire size in The rear when I lowered it a Year ago.I intended to have a bit of a Rake and I see now how The whole Bellflower Style should be on a Dead Level( No Rake ) car....

Thanks for all The awesome advice and input....

Looks better than a rusty old stock pipe. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!
I think the pipes look very different on a Rod that is very different, so they match!
